If you disable core parking on on HT Bridge cpus question

Tue Aug 28, 2012 10:40 pm

Ok i was wondering if anyone has noticed any reviews on disabling core parking on 2600k or 3770k and other HT Bridge CPU's to increase gaming and all around performance.
I disabled core parking on my 2600k and my two 2120 CPUs. I have read online that people with GTX 680s going from 60-70 fps to 100 fps just from disabling core parking along with other instances of increased gaming performance. I would like to see a review on the benefits or disadvantages of disabling core parking if anyone has noticed one or first hand noticed a difference.
Unfortunately i did not benchmark my system beforehand and i do not game that much. I did notice a increase in my DVD fab Bluray 3d ripping converting software went from 70-80% usage to 99% along with quicker convert times to mkv for my regular and 3d 1080p library. So i am happy with that.
Has TR ever done a review on this that i overlooked?

Thanks ahead of time:)

Hi just an FYI they make i5 and Pentium, which are effectively those same respective CPUs without HT. The benchmarks are out there.

What does that have to to with disabling core parking? A i5 2500k games just as well as a 2600k for the most part but does not have hyperthreading. During gaming hyperthreaded cores are not used for the most part so i am interested if they cannot park if it increases performance.

Thanks for the links TDIdriver.
Some remarkable gains in win rar even the 875 CPU gains a good bit. Beside numerous mentions of increases in BF3 smothness and disabling core parking removes microstuttering in BF3. I have yet to find a article that goes through all the cpu benchmarks including gaming.

How to Increase CPU performance fix stutters FPS drops

Sun Nov 18, 2012 3:14 pm

Tech report has to do a article on CPU performance with core parking disabled in windows 7 on i7 cpus mainly but my i7 2600k and i3 2120s cpus with hyperthreading have a much better load balancing with core parking disabled. I have read in other articles win rar performance increased dramatically with all i7 CPUs by up to 40%. Windows 7 systems are the affected.
I am posting the link on how to disable core parking since i think it made my cpus run a bit better...sorta like a tune up on your car when it starts to need one. It includes examples of problems fixed but i feel strongly that this needs to be investigated by the PRO's AKA THE TECH REPORT :) with a thorough article of the differences of disabling core parking or not.

if you google disabling core parking you will find more reports of increased CPU performance. Like microstutter fix, system pauses or hangs. FPS drop fixes ETC.

As i said i did it to my 3 hyperthreaded cpu's and the load balancing is much better, but I performed no benchmarks myself comparing the differences since i am experienced enough to give you all a proper review like the techreport can. It may even help AMD cpus but i no longer own any to test it though.
