I own the LG GGC-H20L and it has worked fine for me.
Yes your system is faster than mine. But mine is old enough to operate as a time machine so that I can be a roadie for Hüsker Dü. So therefore mine is *AWESOMER*.
Oh, and GET OFF MY LAWN.

I got this a few weeks ago for the same $40 shipped price. Works fine, I'm not interested in BR writing at all since other storage is so much cheaper but I wanted something to play BR's.

Only other thing to know about it, since it may not be obvious from the pictures, is that the faceplate above the silver strip is glossy. Not going to get into a whole 'omg glossy sux' thing, it's just a drive and somehow the glossy surface isn't prone to fingerprints unlike other glossy plastics, but those very concerned about aesthetics might find this info helpful.

Does it come with software as described in a few feedback? If I were to get one it is going to be watching BD movies.

How's the noise level?

It came with a CD with the following options to install, I didn't bother with any of it: Image.

It's quiet for an optical drive even when running at high speed once it's hit its groove, seeks make kind of an odd noise, silent when playing media.

You have your own software? Or you just do not play BD movies with the drive?

I am going to have to plead the 5th on that one, but not because of licensing of any software I use. There is plenty of software out there to utilize BR drives.

I've read that VLC 2.0+ with the addition of two plug-in files can play most but not all Blu-ray movies.
