As for Logitech, personal experience dictates that it will break in two weeks. Oh, wait, it already has.

To be fair, it was actually 2 months (not 2 weeks). And I've generally been happy with their mice. But I agree with you on their keyboards, the build quality tends to leave something to be desired.

This place sells Cherry keyboard parts, including keycaps: http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/
Looks like Logitech might be using some slightly non-standard keycaps though. It is not clear to me from the pictures of the G710+ whether the Ctrl keys on the G710+ are mechanically identical to a standard Cherry "Row 1 1x1.25" cap. If they are, you're golden; if the G710+ one is larger, the standard replacement will fit (but with a slightly larger gap between it and the Windows key); if it is smaller then using a standard replacement is going to be a no-go.
JohnC wrote:I've done some comparison - the Ctrl key on Logitech G710 has the same size as "Tab" key on my Ducky keyboard... So maybe the correct replacement key from wasdkeyboards's site is "row 3, size 1x1.50"

Here's the list of ones that I've tried, in decreasing order of how much I like them:
1) Rosewill RK9000BR: Died after 3 months from the well-known USB connector problem. Currently disassembled, waiting until I pick up some solder wick to redo the USB connector. This is my favorite ever. The feel is "crisp" and light, and more solid than the other ones.
2) Filco Majectouch FKBN104EM/EB: Oldest of the bunch, and the one I use the most. It actually does "ring" when I really get going on it. Just slightly mushier than the RK900BR, and slightly more drag on the keytops moving from key to key. I'm just not as fast as I was on the RK900BR. Certain keys squeaked until they broke-in after a week or so.
3) Rosewill RK9001BR: The back lit keys help when the only other light in the room is coming from the monitor. I mostly touch-type, but still have to look when going after the symbols on the number row, or hitting Fn keys. Not as solid or crisp as the RK9000BR.
4) Filco Ninja Tenkeyless FKBN87M/EFB2: Feels more "plasticy" then the above. Lighter and moves around as I type to the point where I miss key strokes. I like the key legends on the front-side of the keys. I occasionally carry this with me when traveling if I know I'll have a lot of typing to do.
5) X-Armour U9BL-S: I really just never liked this quite as much as the above. It's getting dusty attached to a machine I mostly use headless. The back-lighting is better than the RK9001BR. The spacebar tends to stick. Never like the feel of the keytops.
I'm always looking for better MX-Brown keyboards, so may try the Das or Logitech next time I need/want another...
You might also want to add an improvised strain relief to the cable to take the stress off of the connector, like I did: viewtopic.php?p=1119554#p1119554 (last pic in that post).
MarkG509 wrote:Thanks! So, that where I saw it..I was looking for that post. I'm doing *exactly* the same repair job, right down to the right-angle USB cable.
How well has your's held up since the repair? (Sorry if asking this counts as jacking the thread.)
