Acer C7 cromebook

I saw that this was just released

wondering if one could wipe crome os and install say linux mint ?

Yes, you can wipe Chrome OS and install Linux Mint. The only thing about C7 Chromebook is the below average battery life 3.5-4 hours.
It would take you 2,363 continuous hours or 98 days,11 hours, and 35 minutes of gameplay to complete your Steam library.
In this time you could travel to Venus one time.

so would it be any different from say a run of the mill lappy ? ( installing mint that is ) I am thinking of doing this . I have a 60gb ssd doing nothing but colecting dust . so I pick up a usb dvdrw and plug that in with a copy of linux mint 32bit

Perhaps not reading this: http://chromeos-cr48.blogspot.com/2012/11/looking-for-acer-c7-chrubuntu-tester.html. Had a CR48 Goggle sent me forgot I had to flash the BIOS to boot Windows/Linux. You would be stuck booting Ubuntu and unable to replace the hard disk looks like.
