Cloning a Bootable USB Thumb Drive

Tue Nov 20, 2012 11:55 am

I'm trying to clone a Bootable USB thumb drive we use at work. Unfortunately, we have thin client machines that use this one specific USB thumb drive to rebuild them. It's a huge hastle to build it up from scratch. Is it possible to clone it to a same size thumb drive?

Try using CloneZilla to bitcopy the source Flash drive to a destination flash drive. It's a little arcane to use but it's free and does work.

Much better yet, use something like USB Image Tool.

Doing it with clonezilla... :o

Edit: Make sure to try to standardize on the same brand and type of flash drive...some have more available blocks than others and will be weird to image to/from.
