Hello,
I have an Asus PT6 Deluxe LGA 1366 x58 motherboard and 18 GB of RAM installed. For reference it is an old Alienware Area 51 x58 desktop. Anyway, after a new installation of windows 7 Pro 64 bit on a new hard drive, the OS only shows 14 GB of RAM, like one of the slots with 4 GB isnt working. A quick look at CPU-Z revealed that all 6 slots were working (3 4GB PNY sticks and 3 2GB Corsair) and showed a grand total of 18 GB.
I checked the specs of the motherboard and it shows max supported memory at 24 GB.
I did not find any settings in the BIOS that would "turn off" a memory slot and if CPU-Z is detecting all 18 GB of RAM wouldn't that mean that the slot and RAM were working correctly? In the BIOS it reads only 14 GB of RAM so I am assuming it has something to do with the BIOS settings...
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks
