Which Samsung should I get?

Mon Dec 03, 2012 5:43 pm

I was wondering whether I should get either a Samsung Galaxy S III or a Galaxy Note 2. Or should I wait for the Galaxy S IV, which I think is supposed to come out in January? Please advise.

P.S.: I am currently with AT&T, but I could switch to Verizon. It is what phone to get that I am not sure of.

As an Original Galaxy Note owner on AT&T, I say Galaxy note II is what i would get. Having played with the GSIII extensively. The Battery life and new "Pentile Lite" display (rgB vs RGBG) on the GNII makes it a no brainer for me. Then again, with CM10 I'm quite happy with my Original Galaxy Note as well. Without CM10 i think i'd already be a GNII owner.

I'm still on Ginger Bread ICS (sorry!) with my Note- but Jelly Bean should be coming through the pipes from AT&T. Not quite enthralled with the idea of messing with my phone yet (or ever?), but if I had a previous-gen phone that was worth a damn (the original Captivate/Galaxy S on AT&T was worthless), it'd be running CyanogenMod.

In the end, they're basically the same phone, with the same resolution- differences being screen size (and DPI) along with battery life? The Note series has a stylus?

Have you tried them both at a store?

If you can get over its size, the Note II is better in nearly every way.

e: Air - The ATT Note doesn't even have ICS yet? That's terrible.

How large of a phone can you handle? I'd be concerned about the size of Note 2.. then again, I was worried about GS3 size as well, and got used to it in two days.

If you can wait, maybe see what S IV looks like... although I think I read it somewhere that it'll be available in April or June or something. (Maybe they'll announce it in January, though..)

I cannot begin to express how happy I am with the GS3. Then again, I moved up from a first generation galaxy S.
Probably PUI. Definitely an كافر

It shipped with Gingerbread, and they upgraded it to ICS- I'm waiting for JB, as it's still a bit stutter-y, for whatever reason.

Oh, I thought you said you were still on GB in your previous post.

The GS4 should be announced in Q2 next year. CES/MWC may be too optimistic.
The Model M is not for the faint of heart. You either like them or hate them.

i own the s3 and im mostly pleased with it
but if i had to buy 1 now i would get the note 2
primarily for the larger screen and able to run 2 apps at once half screen for each as-well as the 2gb ram compared to just 1 in s3
the s3 gets pretty slow when switching between apps the 2gb will help a lot more and make the phone butter smooth

The US version of the S3 has 2GB.

If it makes a difference to you rivera, the S3 will likely get most, if not all, of the software enhancements the Note II has. Like the apps side by side and such mentioned above.

A quick google leads me to believe otherwise, since I can't check right now. But to clarify, I'm not looking for the Samsung release, but the AT&T release of Jelly Bean for the Note.

Not the note, but for the AT&T GS3.
