Still playing today, using the Doomsday Engine and whatever high-res texture packs I can scrape out of some of the smellier corners of the 'Net. Still love me my double-barrelled shotgun, though for mental therapy it's a quick IDDQD, IDFA, and carnage with the rocket launcher.

I agree but after ID created the bar with Doom it was Epic that raised the bar with Unreal Tournament and GOTY.clone, I look at Doom as more of a pure shooter. I like the simplicity. You get a gun, you shoot stuff, things try to kill you. Some of the current fps's lose me because they try to tack on too much "depth" in the thinking that forced tutorials and escort missions and junk like that makes a game better.
