Number which is for this computer (Gateway). The Desktop did not come with a Windows 7 disc. I have a few OEM Discs (Windows 7 Home Pre) from system builds. Can I install Windows 7 using a OEM disc and the Lic. Number from the Gateway Desktop?? What is the best way to completely wipe a desktop clean and set up for a new person?? Thanks in advance!!! Flying Fox wrote:Does the desktop allow you to boot to some recovery mode? If so you already can restore to factory condition OS wise.
Psygnosis wrote:If you dont have a windows disk you can access the hidden recovery partition from either in windows via the eRecoveryManagement program which should be in a folder in the start menu named gateway. you can also access it from boot by holding alt and clicking F11 on start up.

diskpart
list disk
select disk #
clean all

Ahh, thanks -- that's good to know. Didn't realize MS included that functionality now.

Granted it is not DBAN's DoD compliant multiple passes, but it does writes zeros one time I guess.
