I knew this day was coming but its still hard now that its here. Microsoft is officially killing off windows live mesh and replacing it with Sky Drive. Sky Drive is great and all (maybe... I don't know or care actually) but along with this shift they are taking away the one feature of mesh that I loved which was the instantaneous direct syncing of files from one computer to another without using a specific folder or messing with symlinks.
I like to keep my documents, music and pictures synced between my desktop and laptop. I could theoretically prune it down but that would take a lot of work and I'd rather just have it all no matter what computer I'm using. In total its probably 100 GB and tens of thousands of files. For me it doubles as backup system. I don't need a way to access the files over the internet (Thats the beauty of having them locally!).
Does anyone know of any free alternatives out there? The closest thing I came across was http://www.cubby.com but to get the direct syncing between computers costs money. Other ideas? Anyone else disappointed that mesh is going the way of the dodo?
