Something cannot be "very" unique. It's either one-of-a-kind or it is not.

Besides, Aberdeen might miss it. There's 8 survivors out of 20 built; only the one at Aberdeen still has its prime movers.

My Dad's artillery unit had one of those when he was in Germany in 1963.

IIRC, the 30-round magazine for the Glock was originally designed for the Glock 18. That's the select-fire Glock and qualifies as a machine pistol. Cool little gun, but it eats ammunition like most fully auto toys.

Sadly that's what gun shops are charging now too. It will pass.

Rock Island is putting out a 1911 clone in 10mm. I'm kind of curious how it goes over; I've never understood why 10mm didn't catch on better. Sure some rounds kick hard, but they don't *have* to...

Now I'm seriously tempted to call the local gunshop and ask if they'll buy. Best not miss the opportunity to separate fools and their money.

Eh, you cut down the powder in a 10mm round to civilize it and you might as well trim down the brass to make .40 S&W, right?

I've owned and parted with a few .380's over the years, always feeling under powered, but then someone made me a really good offer on this, so I'm back to pocket carrying (rear), except in those pesky gun-free zones.

Well, everything is sold out almost everywhere. I ended up paying about $50 more for the fns 9 than it should have been. After looking at the smith &wesson wesson m&p, i think that is my next. I also like that they have it in .22 LR. Can shoot a lot more rounds in. 22 without going broke.

It didn't catch on because the early guns were expensive and had problems handling the cartridge without breaking. Combine that with the fact that the FBI couldn't handle the power, and the development of the .40 S&W, and that pretty much relegated the 10 to niche status.

I'd be seriously interested in a RIA 10mm if it was done right. I'd love a Colt Delta Elite, but they're waaay too expensive.

You'd need something that size to tame the Ten. Shot a S&W 1006 (big brother to my 4006) once with the original full-power loads and said "no thank you". Just don't have the hand size necessary to hold that much kick comfortably.

That RIA is kinda ugly. Wouldn't be so bad if it didn't have that giant billboard on the slide. Stainless steel would be a nice option, too.

The slide sign is bad, but those grips remind me of the backdrop to Jefferson Airplane concerts during the Summer of Love.

The S&W M&P in 22 is not the same pistol as the rest of the bunch of M&P bunch. S&W makes a 22A modle it is reported to be better than the M&P. I have shot the M&P in 9mm and 22 cal and the the grips are the same but that is about it. I have my eye on a Ruger 101 in 22 cal.

How effective is it on a supersonic round like the 5.56mm? Also, how much, if any, velocity do you lose with it?

Velocity is neglegible. Sound down range is the same. Still hear the sonic "crack" as the projectile reaches the required velocity, but the sound to the shooter is greatly diminished. Enough so, that no hearing protection is required.

It's a "clink" of the bolt, a "crack" of the projectile reaching the speed of sound, and a "ting" on the target, if the target is metal.

From the shooters perspective, it is fairly quiet. Down range, you hear the crack.
On the first video, you can hear the sound off in the distance.

Re: Gun prOn!

well I went off and sold my AR15 at the gunshow a few weekends ago. I bought it for $650 locally. Spikes lower and delton mid length upper. I sold it for $1350. It shot great, but didn't get shot much. Even at 40 cents a pop, it still was expensive to shoot and the ranges I went to weren't long enough to really see it fly.

I have been shooting a lot more sporting clays lately as there is a course not far from my house. I picked up a new Remmy 12 ga 26' 11-87 Sportsman in black not too long ago but have had a lot of stove tops when ejecting shells, so I went ahead and ordered a new Franchi Affinity 28' 12ga in the max-4 camo for turkey and duck. It is supposed to show up Thursday night at my FFL. After fully taking apart my 11-87 and cleaning and oiling the recoil spring and chamber in the stock, the thing shot great this weekend with no misfires. I guess I'll have a nice guest gun now! Pending how the Affinity shoots, that will be my go-to gun. I'll have to load some pics up once it comes in.

On another note, I still have $500 of wife-approved gun money to spend. If you had $500 for gun money, what would you spend it on? New or used, doesn't matter to me. I have thought about an SKS, 1911 or level action 30-30. I have always liked 1911's, but I'm not sure of the quality for under $500. The SKS or 30-30 would be a pig gun. Any other suggestions?

This. 500 right now won't buy much. But in 6-12 months it should. At the ever present risk of R&P, ammo isn't in any real danger (nationally) so you know in a few months that'll stabilize and prices will be sane again. Then 500 bucks can buy a crapton of ammo to shoot with.

It took a lot longer than 6-12 months to settle the last time Obama spurred ammo sales...
