He already did. The
Asus 23" VS239H-P for $175 after MIR is a great monitor. I love mine, got it for $165 with free shipping FYI. The
21.5" VS229H-P for $145 is it's little brother.
Even eIPS looks better than TN, but you'd have to own an IPS monitor to know what you're missing IMO. (It's the same scenario as SSDs, once you get one, all other computer seem slow and unresponsive) IPS will cost you a bit more obviously, so it may not fit in this build's budget. I don't trust Acer screens even though the one you chose has very good reviews, their laptops are notorious for having shoddy looking TN screens.
Any of these 23" TN monitors cost almost the same, would be bigger, and serve just as well as that 21.5" that you picked out. Otherwise, if you're purchasing today (or able to wait for the sale to come back), the
Asus 23" VH236H for $130 is on a great sale (today) and has almost a thousand of 5-star reviews.
As others have said, GPUs get replaced most often. Keep in mind though, if you spend an extra $10 on a 23" TN monitor, that puts you at $714 (dangerously close
). A
7850 2GB for $170 after MIR puts you only $10 over budget at that point, includes two free games (Bioshock and Tomb Raider), and would
trounce the 650Ti handily.
[Edit: 2/19/2013] I see the
650Ti you chose is on sale for $125 after MIR now. That makes it a much more attractive buy than it was at $145.
