best pdf viewer for windows

Tue Mar 05, 2013 7:03 pm

I am finding Foxit to be bloated these days, and try to avoid adobe reader on principle (though I own the full version and use it to edit pdfs).

Any suggestions on a better lightweight viewer for windows 8? (The update to must have programs mentioned several but I was unclear what was best on windows)

Thanks.

If you don't mind having to dip into Foxit/Adobe from time to time for the really complex ones, for most of my PDF viewing needs I find Chrome's viewer to be good enough.

I've been using Sumatra to view offline PDFs. Not many features but it's very fast.

I use this guy and haven't found a PDF yet it won't read:

Nice and fast - I too found Foxit was getting slow which seemed to be missing the point to me.

Firefox backed up with Adobe Reader.

Firefox's builtin PDF reader works well, and Reader has been vastly improved in recent years.

Interesting; I didn't realize there was a Windows version. Guess I will need to check that out, the Linux version works quite well as long as you don't need to fill in PDF forms.

It's a bit old, though, since GTK+ 3 still hasn't been ported, which means no GNOME 3 ports to Windows yet.

How does it work on Windows? My experiences with Gnome and GTK applications on Windows has been pretty rough.

Anyway, I like KDE's Okular better.

Whaaat? No recommendations for Nitro PDF on this page? s(・`ヘ´・;)

It's a lot faster than Adobe, although admittedly it does lack a few features compared to Adobe and FoxIt.

Try it out! °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°

Just pick up an older version of Foxit that isn't as annoying looking as the "newer" versions. :P It's still one of my favorites -- I only use Adobe at work since we have the full paid version...
