Official date is August 17th!

Its time!

The date for this year is likely to be August, 10th, 17th, or 24th. Will know for sure by the first week of March. For the uninitiated the TR BBQ is an annual tradition hosted in Holland, MI right on the big lake. Any and all TR readers are invited, just introduce yourself in the thread.

Obviously I have some other priorities this year but things on that front are going well so I'm going to proceed as normal with plans for the BBQ. I really liked the addition of the "pre-party", "after dark" and "walk of shame" last year so I would plan on that for the general scope of the event if you want to make an entire weekend out of it. I know last year is going to be hard to top but we're talking the BIG TEN YEAR EVENT so if we can find any stops we missed last time we'll pull them out this year for sure! This is the one all of you who keep saying you'll come some year have been waiting for...

Ribs, baked beans, burgers, hot-dogs, cool dog, flamethrower, potato cannon, giant raft, fireworks, Cornhole, trophies, Livestream, bonfire, smores, hardware swap, massive beach, friendly geeks, approachable celebrities, prizes and swag... Phew!

Looking like August 17th or 24th are our choices. I'm leaning toward the 17th because the 24th is just too close to schools and whatever starting up again. Thoughts?

Also, any suggestions for anything new and different? Or do we have the formula perfected and just want more of the same? No hurt feelings if anyone has suggestions...

Lastly, I mentioned above that this year is the year everyone who never makes it said they would come, can we get a general idea of how many people this is really going to be true for? If attendance is going to double or something I would like to know sooner rather than later.

Edit: I guess the 10th is still an option too but I think I still like the 17th the best.

Once again I will be in the US (Independence, MO) this summer but only until the 8th of August! Bah! I WILL one day attend the fabled BBQ. That would be a record of a 3680 mile great circle distance from my home to MI.

Damage/anyone else - how about another pre-BBQ meetup in Independence/Lee's Summit area some time in the first week of August?

Will chip in as well. May i suggest fewer but more expensive stuff, so that we have less waiting time in between.

I found something that would be a great addition to the BBQ this year.

The bubble solution seems pretty easy to make. The giant wand hoop not so much, but I'm sure i could figure something out.
Overall I look forward to seeing you guys again.

I think we can handle procuring a couple old fishing poles and some twine for the wand/hoop. That is super cool! We need to geek it up even more though, maybe with dry ice or helium... Hmm...

Yes I will be there to cook!!

Actually I kept the whole month of August open just because, but any date that was listed would work.

17th is perfect and I hope to be out early on Friday.

OH and one other thing. Someone else gets the Wasson Cup this year. You cannot keep giving it to the cook.
