Just wondering if anyone has any input on this?

I remember there used to be an IE x64, I don't see it on this win7x64 PC now though, and I heard Mozilla dropped FF x64 support.

I had downloaded this a few months back but hadn't given it a try yet.

IE Defaults to 64-bit now. It has caused a ton of problems for web-based systems, which I have had to do a lot of work for the local insurance agents. Their software requires 32-bit to be loaded. Before IE10, you could go to IE Help, and it will tell you which version you are running. Most often, IE defaults to 64-bit and you have to find IE in the x86 folder and run it from there.

Before I upgraded to IE10 if I right-clicked on the icon on the task bar it gave me the option of opening an x64 window. I don't see that option anymore.

When I look at the properties, it's running out of Program Files and not Program Files (x86) which suggests that it's an x64 program. I can still find another copy in Program Files (x86) however, so it looks like it installs both.

My assumption is if you're running Win7x64 and you installed IE10, that it made x64 your default, and they don't bother giving you the menu option anymore.

Opera 64bit, but they will be moving to the Webkit/Blink for future releases.

I use the Pale Moon x64 build of firefox.

Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Rekonq and Opera.

IE10 is default 64bit.

I think yes and no, in win8 anyway. I believe it's 64 bit overall but each tab is a 32 bit process with its own memory.

Unless you enable the Enhanced Protected Mode, that is.

I have no idea how it runs in win7.

Oh noes! Malicious hackers are going to have to learn to make their exploits 64-bit compatible? How inconvenient!

Metro-style browsers, including Internet Explorer 10, are 64-bit by default, and Internet Explorer 10 opts in to using HEASLR.

Which is relevant when running it in WinRT mode. In desktop mode that is not accurate.

On 64-bit Windows 8, the browser frame process (both “modern UI” and Desktop) runs 64-bit. However, for compatibility with plug-ins, IE 10 on the desktop runs 32-bit tabs by default. Yes, EPM on desktop is full 64bit mode.

Without ASLR, none really.

Short version is better optimization defaults (Firefox still runs some x87 code last I heard, which isn't even available to 64 bit apps iirc) and no WoW64 layer translating things to the OS.

As far as most noticable differences it'd only really be 'felt' in encryption or other heavy activites, but for basic browsing it wouldn't change much.

According to what i read somewhere, if you have bad browsing habits (like i do) and have a ton of tabs opened at the same time (+20) the browser will starts to get slow at switching tabs and normal scrolling independently of how much memory you have on your system. its a problem because of the 32 bit architecture of the browser limiting the memory. or something like that.

Don't take my word for it, thought, i can't remember where i read it, but the problem was something like that. In a native 64 bit engine browser (in which everything runs 64 bit, not just recognized as x64 by the OS) it wouldn't happen.
Something else about only chrome for linux being available as a pure 64-bit executable. Did some research about it a few months ago. Things might have changed since.

I have a 64 bit Seamonkey. I did build it though.

Another vote for Pale Moon.
I've been using for at least a year, without issue.
I had no incompatibilities, as I was able to use noscript and adblock plus (among other add-ons).
I've tested it with having over 30 windows open, equating to over 1400 tabs, which consumed around 11 GB (my system's got 12 GB), no issue.

64-bit Chromium here. (On Ubuntu Linux.)
