How to remove "W8 Pro with WMC Build 9200" on screen

Tue Apr 16, 2013 12:46 pm

"Windows 8 Pro with Windows Media Center Build 9200" is displayed at right bottom corner since the WMC add-on was installed. How can I remove it?

I've seen this myself, though I can't remember how I fixed it.

I think all I did was install updates and restart.

This appears to be an indicator that your copy of Windows is no longer activated. It seems like it's not uncommon:

It sounds like when you install the WMC add-on they issue a new key, and you have to reactivate.

Yet another wonderful "feature" of Windows 8 I suppose...

Exceedingly wonderful feature in my case.
When I attempted to have it activated on-line, "This CD Key is already used for another computer . . ." is returned. Phone activation took care of it. But it was a pain providing looong ID and typing in looong activation code.

I am wondering what if I have to reinstall W8. The setup DVD is not for Windows 8 Pro with Windows Media Center. Can I still use the new CD Key. If not, is the old CD Key still valid? Anyone who did the re-install?
