AMD FX Wallpaper - For You Gerbils

Postposted on Thu Jun 13, 2013 12:38 am

Hey Gerbils. I'm not sure under which category to post this here, so I thought the Back Porch would be safe. I just made myself a nice wallpaper after cropping a snazzy new AMD FX graphic, the same graphic found on those new Richland APU boxes, and then simply pasted the same cropped graphic on an AMD Game! Ready wallpaper. So, I thought, why not share it with other folks? Not sure if this is protected by some sort of copyright, but hey, I am helping AMD a bit here, am I not? If people make this their wallpaper, AMD scores an impression every time someone passes by their PC. :)

Just to make it crystal clear, I have nothing to do with AMD. AMD is simply one of my favorite brands in the world of computers. We all have our favorite companies, right? Whether it's a brand of car, processor, or dishwashing liquid. It's just the way the world is, for most folks, at least. And frankly, this is the most beautiful graphic that I've ever seen from them and I knew I wanted to put it on my desktop the moment I saw it.

And here's the image I uploaded at Tinypic.com.

Sorry, it's not super high quality, and res is just 1024x768. I can't get a better copy of the FX graphic.

Note : If this violates any copyright law out there, the moderator of these forums is free to take this thread down. I have no intention whatsoever to... get myself into trouble. :D

Be proud, AMD FX owners! :D

The top of that heatspreader looks terribly uneven. Better lap it flat before installing the HSF or your CPU temperatures are really gonna suck!

That's what thermal goop is for, right? To fill the gaps. :-)

Oh yes, please do! That way, folks who use your PC and are amazed by how fast it is would buy an FX! LOL!

If you have a larger Game! Ready wallpaper, I think the FX graphic pasted in the middle of it as-is should be fine too. Never underestimate the power of "empty space".

Well, that one you have a larger version, right? :P

@Flying Fox:

Sorry, bro, I don't have a larger stock Game! Ready wallpaper to put the FX graphic on. And even if I did, the FX chip should cover the Game! Ready logo completely. The Game! Ready logo is kinda big so I needed to scale the FX chip accordingly. As for the second wallpaper, I just grabbed a sexy wallpaper that looks suitable and large enough (and have a REAL babe on it!) to use as wallpaper on most desktops without looking too grainy. I then scaled the logo and text balloon accordingly.

Hope you gerbils like these wallpapers. :-)

Oh Ronch... you thought I was joking about using that wallpaper right?
Well, I've got my 4.7GHz Haswell overclock running nicely (it even has decent temperatures when you are insane enough to delid the CPU like I did).

So.. without further ado, here are some photos of your desktop wallpaper as the backdrop to me running Cinebench 11.5 (under 64-bit Wine on my KDE desktop) on a 4770K that is OC'd to 4.7GHz:

Early in the run, Guinea Pig isn't too freaked yet
Farther into the run... wait, are we almost at 220 watts?
And there are the completed results. The FX logo makes them look faster!

I didn't think anyone would be offended with the wallpaper, as I expect most of us here to be mature adults. And besides, I don't think there's anything wrong with her attire. You see those everywhere.

Nonetheless, my apologies if you thought the wallpaper is offensive.

Her attire is something you can see on broadcast TV, but at work most people aim for ultra conservative surfing.

A NSFW tag is appropriate.

I certainly didn't. I liked it. But there is "offensive to man" and "offensive to lawyers" and guess which ones' opinions get turned into corporate policy?

There's also "offensive to overly PC types who then go running to a lawyer". I'd hazard a guess that the majority of lawyers would actually be OK with it; they're just in it for the money or playing CYA, depending which side they're on.
