Why do you Ask? are you upgrading a CPU only? And if you are what motherboard are you currently using a z68 or z77 series?

If you are running a z68 or p67 i would go with the 2600k since they overclock a few hundred MHZ more then the 3770k and run alot cooler. If you are using a z77 board i would go 3770k.

Starmicron has 2600k has cpus for 258$

If you plan to overclock, probably the 2600K, since many people seem to think Ivy Bridge chips have less overclocking potential. Otherwise, just get a non-K 4770.

What he said. Assuming you are overclocking, that is. I assume you are if you want a "K" SKU.

DeadOfKnight The OP did not specify if he was upgrading his cpu or building a whole 1155 system. Plus why would you build a 1155 system if you can build a 1150 haswell setup for the same price. So the Original Poster has to give us all the details of why he asked what is better or we cannot give him the correct answer:)

Also Deadofknight you must still be happy with your 875k lynnfield CPU. What kind of overclock are you running and cooling?
Also you can call it snake oil if you want to but if you are running windows 7... I highly rec you disable core parking! On the benchmarks i could find about having core parking on vs off the Lynnfield i7 CPU's had the greatest increase in performance :)
I do not care what anyone says it made my 2600k system much smoother, removed a stuttering problem i had with BF3. Plus I believe it helps with SLI setups, lately my 560ti's have been working so well with everything i have thrown at them including my latest game Crysis 3. Well i am off to look for any texture mods or configuration programs for crysis 3 now. Seems like I am capped at 100 FPS

I agree with you, hence the "what he said." Also my CPU turned out to be an overclocking dud. I can boot into windows and it doesn't get too hot, but it's unstable in stress tests with the slightest bit of overclocking and will occasionally give me the BSOD. I can up the turbo multiplier by one or two bins, that's all. After I realized this, I decided to say the hell with it and just kept it at stock. My CPU runs faster in "performance" mode rather than "Balanced" in the power settings. I still keep it balanced because it doesn't seem to matter under load and I don't really need more performance if I'm not really doing anything demanding. I know this is speedstep at work, but it's still annoying when I try to monitor my CPU. Point is I can still push my CPU further but all it's really gonna do is lower the lifespan. It will give me tangible benefits in benchmarks but not really for gaming which is what this PC was built for. I dunno anything about core parking though. That could be the problem. It could also be my RAM. I don't really care one way or the other because, although I know it was a waste of money to go with this CPU if I'm not gonna overclock, it still does everything I need it to do with plenty of performance.

I just checked to see if the OS is parking my cores and it is. It's parking cores 1,3,5, and 7. I don't see why this would be a bad thing though because wouldn't I want it to open a thread on a new core before using hyperthreading?
