Cysis 3 on sale for 19.99!

Wed Jun 19, 2013 10:36 am

I hope that is a good price i downloaded it from origin yuk:) but for 19.99 i figured I could not go wrong and i was looking for a new game to test the newly acquired smoothness of my EVGA Superclocked 560 ti SLI setup running at 985 on the cores and 2400/4800mhz memory @ 1.075 volts a very small increase of .0025v since stock they are set at 1.050 volts. It still ran smooth at the stock 900cores and 2106/4212mhz but the core and memory overclock help a lot giving me 10-20% increase in frame rates.
I think the core and memory bandwidth increase to 153.6 GBs from the manual OC from 134.8GBs from the factory OC down to the low reference speed of 128.1GBs helps a great deal, so much more compared to reference 560 ti speed from nvidia. also the reference core of 822mhz gives me a pixel and texture fillrates of 13.2Gpixel/s & 52.6Gtexel/s vs factory oc of 14.4Gpixel/s & 57.6Gtexel/s vs my manual OC giving me 15.8Gpixel/s & 63.0Gtexel/s
That's a increase of 19.8% in Gtexel/s and Gpixel/s and 19.9% increase in memory bandwidth I love the overclocking ability of these cards considering they are 2 generation old now with the release of the 700 series and titan.

I will let you guy know how my cards do with crysis 3 at 1080p....I am hoping it does not bring them to their knees...I am hoping to drop to one knee:)

Crysis 3 is one of those very tweakable games:
I can make it look good and run well on a Core2 with an underclocked HD7850,
At the same time, crank everything up to full and it'll bring down a GTX Titan.

The game engine and graphics settings scale down enough for the game to run on the ancient Xbox360 and PS3, so you're guaranteed to find somewhere in the middle where you get a good blend of performance and quality.
Like many things "ultra, maximum, full-everything" is very inefficient - in terms of image quality you definitely get diminishing returns.
Congratulations, you've noticed that this year's signature is based on outdated internet memes; CLICK HERE NOW to experience this unforgettable phenomenon. This sentence is just filler and as irrelevant as my signature.

Well at 1080p I am running FXAA, textures at Very High, System spec Very High. Every setting in advanced options are on Very High but i have motion blur disabled and no lens flares, But i am running 16x AF. Lets just say I wish I had the 2 GB 560 tis since my memory usage on both cards is at 1014mb...right at the max of the cards, GPU usage is great at 99% on both cards. CPU usage might be 30--45%

On the first level thats in the ship i was getting 62-75fps with a dip to 55 a few times. Now on the second level in that kewl dome with all the grass and rusted cars i am getting 45-65fps 80 if i look at the sky:) But its Smooth and very playable, I noticed no tearing or stuttering. But i have to say it did bring them down to one knee that's for sure. Also this game makes them hotter then any other game i have played. I think that from the heavy memory usage along with both cards running at 99% usage. So that tells me they are working great in SLI. If a game does not support SLI well I usually will have GPU1 pretty high around 90% and GPU2 in the 30% area or something like that.

I might lower a few things if i notice any lag or stuttering but as of right now I am thankful i can play with all of the eye candy on. I know if i use 2xmsaa instead of fxaa my frame rates will be cut in half! But it still looks beautiful! I am still getting used to the dang suit and visor stuff! Not many FPS have those extras to worry about but i am having fun with them...I feel like a human Predator:)

Not bad for retail, but as a heads up, people were selling them for $10-$15 from the AMD bundles (when they bought more than one card, etc.).

Still $15 too much for an EA game :).

Well i tried it on my Bedroom HTPC that has 8GB ram with a Sandy based i3-2120 3.3 ghz dual core with HT on a H67 chipset, crappy 300 watt PSU and a HIS iCooler GDDR5 hd7750 OCed from 800 core to 1125 core and memory Oced from 1125/4500mhz to 1325/5300mhz with no PCI-e power plug. As Chrispy previously stated turning Crysis 3's graphics options down does not hurt image quality as much as you would think. Even on my 55.5 or so inch panasonic vt30 plasma it looked great on medium.

So far i am on the 1st boat level and i have everything set to medium, medium PC setting, 16x aAF, No AA at all, no motion blur or lens flares either and i am getting 40-66fps and it looks pretty dang good!! I am tempted to tote my tower into the bedroom and hook my 560ti sli setup to my plasma and stand in the same spot on both systems and see the picture difference when switching inputs just for a look see. But i dont feel like toting my 45+ lb tower and disconnecting 10 usb connections ETC. Wish i just had a 25ft HDMI cable :)

Its just that gaming on the 55" plasma is much better then my 37" Vizio lcd I am using with my tower now. All i would have to do is order 2 25ft USB extension cables along with a 25ft HDMI cable and i could use my tower with the wall mounted plasma.
My birthday is coming up :) I think i am just going to ask for the one of the new 29" IPS monitors with the 21:9 aspect ratio and 2560x1080 resolution. Since i am right on top of my 37 inch TV my eyes have to wander alot to take everything in and find enemies ETC I think the nice wide 29' IPS yes IPS:) will work great!!! and give some added peripheral vision that will help more then hurt my gaming. I think you can get dells for 385$ or so. Cheaper then the 27" 144hrtz asus 3D lightboost monitor by around 50%.

Agreed. I have a copy of Crysis 3 and Blood Dragon I am gonna list for sale, and am gonna ask $20 for the pair, and may end up taking less. :)

Got Crysis 3, Tomb Raider, Rage, and Far Cry 3 for under $60. Reviewers should be even more hyper-critical of the 'value argument' that bundled games represent, I think :).
