Fantasy Football 2013 speculation

Fri May 31, 2013 10:15 am

Yahoo leagues are open already.
Looking forward to more football!

What do you guys think of Kaepernick as a QB1?
How will Reggie Bush do on the Lions?
Will Stephen Jackson excel in Atlanta?
Will Brady be a top 5 QB this year?
After Peterson and Foster - who is YOUR #3-10 - There doesn't seem to be much a consensus on that.
Will Larry Fitzpatrick return to his awesomeness with Carson Palmer?
Will anyone draft Ryan Matthews? lol

Dear God I am not starting this crazyness in May. If it isn't done by mid-August, ping me hard.

They may need another tight end or fullback. Who do they have on the roster that's 6' 3" & 240 lbs of rippling muscle with an intense will to win?

Letting Welker walk may end up biting them.

And I think Adrian Peterson will have a down year with the departure of Percy Harvin. Shoot, I feel bad for the Vikings who appear to be Seattle's new farm team.

The only receptions Aaron Hernandez has in his future cannot be spoken of directly 'round here.

Assuming the worst, I hope Yahoo slaps a big "NA" on him otherwise someone on auto-draft will end up with him.

Remind me to check that setting when we get closer to draft date.

Haha good thinking.

I"m trying to think if there is anything i'd change about league from previous years. Nothing comes to mind though.

I don't think he will be draftable. He clears waivers at 4PM today, and becomes a free agent eligible to sign with any team. I highly doubt anyone will sign him. Players not on rosters are usually not draftable.

I agree on AP, only because they loaded up Ponder with more (reliable) options and they said they don't want to run AP that hard this year.

As far as farming their players to Seattle, that's just karma. They're doing it to Green Bay.

Not with Gronk, Hernandez and Welker not an option. They are a deep team, and their backups are strong, but that's too much, even for Brady and the Patriots to overcome.

Just wondering if anyone would be interested in making one of the leagues an Auction league instead of a draft league with Free Agency Budget... Granted we still have plenty of time, but I thought I'd see who's interested...

How does it work when picking players initially? Take turns with a time limit also?

Auctions are an interesting concept, and I would be interested.

BerserkBen wrote:

There are no turns in Auctions. Every owner/team has a chance at every player. Every owner/team has a budget (say $100) and you use that to bid on players. There is sort of a time limit in that you can't take forever to submit bids. Highest bid on a player gets that player.

Yep, this.. the only thing I'd add is that each owner/team would get a turn to nominate a player for bidding. Once the player is on the auction block, everyone starts bidding.

I don't think I've ever been in a league here that at least one person wasn't missing on draft day, so that might be a problem for an auction style draft.

On Yahoo or ESPN, the computer just nominates the next highest rank available player, and everyone bids. Computer can also auto-draft, but generally it's better if an owner is present.

My opinion is that auction style is better with an in-person real life live draft, a roomful of people and a big board, etc.
I'd like to stick with snake drafts, but that's mostly just because I have more experience this way - and auction style is vastly different.

I don't doubt that.. I've done one of each.. both were fun.. I was just seeing if there was enough interest to try one.. I'm hoping self-selection gets people to show up.

First pre-season games are ongoing... Is it time to set up the leagues? Need to figure out keepers from the keeper league as well...

I'll get it done sometime this weekend. Working for SWMBO right now so don't have the spare time.

EDIT: Just informed I have a horde of teenage girls invading tonight. May take longer to get things done.

Can't you fire the potato gun to keep them away?

BTW, please include me in one of the leagues. I had hoped to do the BBQ after attending the BBQ next weekend, but I just got hit with a ginormous medical bill, so the bbq may have to wait until next year, unless I can fund it in the next week (which may be possible, but I don't know).

For Play: Ryzen 5, MSI B350M, 8GB, Radeon 580 and building....

OK, Keeper League set up and invites sent to last year's members. Yahoo now has online keeper management so you should be able to mark 3 keepers in Yahoo. My guess is that I'll still have to hand-hack it like I do every year. Keeper deadline is set for August 23 and draft is set for August 30 at 10:00 PM EDT / 7:00 PM PDT. Take due notice and govern yourselves accordingly. Pre-draft order is this:

Turbochargers
STIFFIE
Fumblerooski
EvenWorseNewsLions
Evil Overlords
Dragons
Space Beez
Bucket Heads
Beli Check Yo Self!
Captain's Keepers

Pre-draft will be the week between 8/23 and 8/30. If Yahoo makes a hash of things as I expect it to do, I'll hand-hack as needed.

I'll do it very soon...

I may change my keepers up to the 23rd.

I think so far I want to keep Adrian Peterson and Julio Jones.

Undecided on 3rd keeper (Kaepernick, MJD, or none)

Holy Peyton :o
Looks like Wes Welker really is going to continue being a stud, at the expense of Eric Decker.

Yeah, I got Peyton'd in 2 of 4 leagues and Decker did himself in with his drops and penalties.
