Choosing a sandal/shoe

Mon Jul 22, 2013 3:39 pm

I'm in the market for a new pair of sandals, and I'm looking at the kind that are a hybrid between shoes and sandals -- basically shoes with holes in them. The top two on my list are the Teva Omnium and the Keen Newport H2.

Does anyone here have a favorite sandal like this they can recommend? Any insight in this? I got a bunch of great recommendations from 'ya'll on boots a few years ago, so lay on the sandal insight. Thanks!

GET THE KEEN. OMG GET THE KEEN.

My Keens are the best damn sandal I have ever worn. Never have my feet been so comfortable without socks.

That might not be entirely fair to the Teva, which I have never worn.

Keens FTW. But be warned you must clean them regularly lest you get some god awful stinky feet. I use this.

I've worn Teva and Chacos but prefer Keens.

That cleaner says it's not for waterproof sandals, fwiw, which these are. I throw mine into the clothes washer now and again.

I've had no problem using it on my Keen H2s.

Are the H2's sufficiently hydrophobic?

I dont think so even when new they absorbed some water. Plus its a sandal, calling it hydrophobic would be a oxymoron.

Good enough for me; the sole doesn't get soaked through. Gets a bit slick and squishy inside if you're sloppy with the garden hose, but not bad, not enough to make them hazardous.
