Can you PM me the address? I'll see if I can make it on Saturday. If I can make it, I'll bring something, but I must admit, I have preconceived notions of what you all look like, so if JBI isn't essentially Queen Latifah with a penchant for ale I'm going to be disappointed.

Done. Also just got back from picking up supplies for Friday. :)

Edit: Speaking of Friday, for parking please just use my yard, I want to keep the driveway open to avoid car shuffling. :)

Um, disappointment will be your lot.

Things just got real!!!

Image

I know it does not look like much but those are the first nine slabs, trimmed, seasoned and ready for a grill.

I only have nine more to go!

Do the math yet?

I am doing 18 slabs this year!!

I really, really need someone to stop me.

We? I think you are speaking for yourself. 18 is bad enough plus I do not think there is space to do that many.

But knock yourself out. I'll stick with 18.

Well, it's not as glamorous as previous years but it's something:

Image

That's four pieces of 2" thick foam insulation (4'x8') shrink wrapped together and stashed inside of a big plastic bag. I'm pretty sure you could pitch a tent on it and spent the night on the lake - but I wouldn't advise it. :P

So about those achievements... No one has suggested any other ones so far... I'm thinking we can use these to award the prizes and let Damage decide the order which they are ranked?

TR BBQ Achievements (in random order):
Oldest daily operational PC
Longest drive to attend
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the tourney
Longest time spent traveling to attend
Most forum posts
Highest number of hours playing in single Steam game
Number of BBQs attended
Earliest forum join date
Highest Ghz overclock
First person to sink 4 bean bags in a row (or failing that, 3 or 2)
Largest number of games in Steam library
Furthest distance traveled to attend
Highest number of total hours playing Steam games (I like the idea of rewarding this person for actually bothering to attend ;))

Maybe? I don't know, help me out here...

I think too many of these don't have enough randomness, or enough to do with the BBQ itself.
I'd remove the following, personally, and replace them with something else.

*Highest number of total hours playing Steam games
*Largest number of games in Steam library
*Highest Ghz overclock
*Highest number of hours playing in single Steam game
*Oldest daily operational PC

More specific to the BBQ would be stuff like:
*Biggest margin of victory in any one match during the tourney.
*Maybe put a prize in escrow for the winner of the TR BBQ FF league.
*For those who go on the raft, have them push each other off and the winner is the last one on, although that may be a bit too violent. :)

I think the following three should be combined:

*Longest drive to attend
*Longest time spent traveling to attend
*Furthest distance traveled to attend

Furthest distance traveled to attend should be the winner.

We need more randomness, as well as chances for people to win that show up and don't do a lot of the above like PC gaming, and PC building.

I have some ideas, but don't want to spoil them; drfish, we gotta discuss them privately :)

Also, as far as supplies go, anyone coming earlier in the morning can probably grab the stuff that doesn't spoil or melt.
Those of us coming a later, like 11am or noon in my case, can grab a second round of ice, water, anything we forgot or need last minute, etc..., and if we have anyone planning to get there between 3-5PM, maybe the can check in as well and pick up what ever we needing at that time.

Again drfish, I'll be checking in with you while on the road, and grab those last minute items, like more ice, veggie tray, etc...

About to hit the road, expect to arrive in Erie, PA somewhere between 7-8 PM. At least this year there's no Bills preseason game tonight (route goes through Buffalo).

You are welcome! It is a pain in the butt, a ton of prep work, but watching everyone eat and be happy on Saturday makes it worth it.

This is your first year is it not?

Remove those 3 too... Cuz there's always the same winner (year after year) that would be eligible for those:

most forum posts: ALWAYS JBI

# of BBQ's attended: ALWAYS FROBOZZ (he never missed one)

earliest forum join date: you'd have too many tied for dec 26th 2001: Forge, Damage, Kevin, and DPOSCorp

Again I know it does not look like a lot, but trust me there are 18 slabs packed into those bags. Rather tightly I might add.

You can all start drooling now.

FYI, I am providing about 36 burger, 24 natural casing hotdogs, 20 skinless, and about 15 stadium sausage.

Obviously ribs too.

For the non carnivores, or vegans, or those with some other odd diet, if you bring something else I can help you or cook it for you. You just gotta bring it.

For example if you would prefer a veggie burger, if you bring it, I will cook it.

:D

That is all.
