For people in the US bringing old hardware across the border may be asking for trouble. While old stuff technically is ok according to NAFTA, just getting stopped is not going to be a pleasant experience.

We had a guy that came up from OR (and he got the prize of "furthest distance travelled to the meetup"). Besides, Portland is practically Washington.
