...and so affordably priced at the rates of a good used car...

 I could spend a couple hundred at IKEA or $6k to $49k for an admittedly very nice desk, and I have other bills... let me think.

Yeah, the price kills this for now. Wait ten years and it might be more reasonable. Look how much most new tech items cost then drop in price as time passes.

You have to admit its a cool idea though. There was something similar in the Mass Effect games you would see in different places in game. I always stopped to look at it when playing and think something like that should be built and sold. This is just the first example.

I don't see how something this complex could ever become price-competitive to a particleboard flat-pack desk.

I thought the latest fad was standing desks and treadmills.

It is still a "desk", although more "dedicated"... And this desk WILL also become "obsolete" as soon as good mass-market VR goggles will appear

The seat also looks crappy... If you just want a comfortable seat - you can find one at http://www.racechairs.com/ then just buy a multi-monitor stand/mount and you will get much more comfort for about the same (or slightly less) price

This is not a tech item.
It's a very specialized and fancy piece of furniture.

I dunno. I don't hate the idea of it, but I slouch with abandon and therefore the appeal of it is probably that it would enable that comfortably. Enclose it in an armored, climate-controlled Darth Vader sphere and I'm sold!
