Ok I was just reading this article,
http://www.cnn.com/2002/SHOWBIZ/Movies/ ... index.html
and was wondering why rich people would do stupid things?

I don't think the doing of stupid things is limited to rich and famous people. I do think that in our culture of celebrity worship we're more likely to hear about the rich and famous when they do stupid things, rather than when some "nobody" does something stupid. It's perceived as more newsworthy.

Sorry that wasn't my point. I was trying to get to the fact that according to the link I pointed to that Winnoa Ryder is accused of shoplifting. Why would someone with the fame/riches she is bound to have shoplift? It's not like she had a need for/didn't have the money to buy the things.

/me engages cynic mode.
Because people are, by default, stupid. That's why. Celebrities are certainly not immune to this phenomena; they're just more likely to get put in the newspaper when they are.
If you want an excellent example of IT-related stupidity, try: http://petemoss.com/spamflames/ShifmanI ... ammer.html

Heh, good laugh.

tarball - I liked that one too. It's fun to realize there are people in the wild that are stupider than Pet Rocks, eh?
