Age doesn't have that much to do with it. It's more of an aversion to plasticky appliance guns. :P

Imagine Holy Grail done as a Jerry Bruckheimer summer blockbuster. Can't see it? Here's the trailer.

Graham Chapman is laughing his arse off from somewhere up above.

EDIT: No Pythons were harmed in the making of this trailer.

Joy. Stuck in Reagan National for another 4+ hours and running off tether. I need a beer but all the bars are full.

Can't muscle your way up to the bar, get a beer, and stand until a table or barstool opens up?

Long line even to walk over the threshold. Guess I'll wait until the crowd thins out. Besides, $8 or more for a 22oz draft gets pricy in a hurry. BTW, Reagan sucks for finding power plugs. At least I'm getting 2Mbps on an old 3G tether.

Can't keep just the CC charge slip and claim it was a meal? (Actually, now that we've been bought out I'm not sure I can still get away with that... I think I will let one of my co-workers be the test case!)

Youngest daughter and her friend just announced they're heading over to American Science & Surplus this afternoon. Guess I raised her right... and that she chooses her friends wisely!

Was tempted to go with them... but I've got other stuff I need to get done today!

Anniversary dinner (23rd) and trying to make Beef Wellington. This could get interesting.

Pate on mine, none for the wife & kid. You people need to learn to love your liver.

I've had good success with Emeril's recipe.
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emer ... index.html

It's better with the pate included.

My tip is to be sure to thaw your puff pastry sheets ahead of time. They're tough to work with when they're still partially frozen.

I've also done well with a similar chicken dish.

All wrapped up and ready to go. Taters are in the oven and need to be done before the Wellingtons go in.

And yes, don't skimp on the pate.

I hate whoever designed mail merge in Office 2010. If any of you find the bastard(s) responsible, kick them in the nuts for me? Talk about pointlessly complicated.

IMO it has been pointlessly complicated since forever, not just in Office 2010. I really dread doing mail merges since I don't do them often enough to have internalized the entire process. So every time I need to do one, I find there's part of it that I've forgotten.

I used to support a program that did mail merge, but it only worked with Office 2002 or earlier; something changed with the interface to 2003 and the mail merge always failed. Even when office 2007 came out, we were forcing people to keep a machine with the older Office lying around. It finally got retired this past summer.

Anybody ever try Redd's apple ale? My dad gave me a 12-pack, and I really really like it. Last night I saw a commercial for a Redd's strawberry beverage as well. Might have to give that a go next. I know, I know, it's not a micro brew or whatever but I like it. Very different from a hard cider like Hornsby's.

The downside of rural VT and I'm pretty sure others here (liquidsquid looks likely) share the same problem:

Pizza delivery. I'm on a numbered highway and your morons don't know where I am and need to call me so I can bring them in for a landing? Do you not have iPhones or the like that can bring you to my front door like magic? I drove pizza back in the early/mid '80s and a GPS-enabled phone would have been an absolute godsend at the time (yes, I know the constellation wasn't complete until 1995 or so for public use). No, I had to remember it and integrate it into my wetware. Bloody useless idiots. They still expect a tip, though.

You can actually get pizza delivery? :P WHen I was in the rockies, there wasn't a place that'd deliver to us. It sucked when it was late, you were tired and starving.

Yeah you had to actually eat what was in the fridge. The shame.

Just moving more "into town" has opened up a whole bunch of possibilities for me. When I lived in the apartment I was just on the edge of town and a lot of places wouldn't come out. Just the name of the street I lived on was enough for them to say "oh we don't come out that far". But the house is way more in town so Jimmy John's will deliver now, for instance.

GrubHub is a pretty slick tool if you're somehwere with a lot of places.

Of course I still have to pick up Lou Malnati's when we want that, but it's worth it.
On second thought, let's not go to TechReport. It's infested by crypto bull****.

I now have WAY too much info on his life. *shudder* Thank god for the hide feed options

I could give you list of sites that do, courtesy of gramps  I'm pretty frigging puzzled by it too; I mean is that what you want to advertise to family and friends? "I LIKE THIS TYPE OF KINK!!!" I thought he was hacked at first and messaged him...nope, not hacked.

My house is fairly close to the local airport/ANG base. Someone in the general aviation hangar has a P-51 or similar bird because I'm hearing the siren song of a Merlin engine at full roar playing around out there at this moment. It's bloody glorious.

EDIT: USAF just officially said they want to replace our F-16s with F-35s. Can't wait.

You want truly glorious music? Try a full Battle of Britain Memorial Flight formation flypast with Spitfires, Hurricanes and a Lancaster. Just the Lancaster itself with 4 Merlins is awe inspiring.

I was in a hotel room in Greater DC during the funeral of the Queen Mother (Mother of QE II). I cranked the TV as far as it would go since every plane the BBMF owns did a flyover. I might have echoed the lines of a young Christian Bale from Empire of the Sun, adjusted for the planes actually flying.

Whoever owns this beastie locally is giving her the spurs and some serious aerobatics. I don't need to see the maneuvers, the sound gives it all away.
