Finally our long national nightmare is behind us.

(note: I game with an Xbox 360 controller for games that support it)
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

So does this actually affect more games than that, or is it now completely fixed?

Also wondering this before I upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1.

Doesn't look like it. If you look at the knowledge base article there are also instructions to the the fix for "other games".

Not all games need the fix. Plenty of titles are unaffected.

Edit: My impression given the listed games, is that only games that offer raw input need the fix. I do believe those games are in the minority.

It's the other way around. Games with raw input don't need the fix whereas games that don't may need the fix.

BF4 has raw input for instance and has no problems.

This isn't a fix, it's a work-around. The prospects of needing to apply it manually to other titles is frustrating.

Counter-Strike doesn't have raw input? That sounds off.

CS:S and CS:GO have a toggleable option for raw mouse input, but I don't think it's enabled by default.

I'm still having my doubts he's right. It's more likely that BF4 doesn't have an issue because it was built to take advantage of Win8.1.

The hotfix even states,
This issue occurs because Windows 8.1 introduced changes to mouse input processing for low latency interaction scenarios. Therefore, games respond to mouse inputs differently in Windows 8.1 than in previous versions of Windows.

If raw input doesn't count as low latency, I'm not sure what does. Hopefully some more nit and grit detail shows up at some point.

The hotfix ALSO says:

Workaround
If the game provides a raw input option, you can select this option to work around this issue.

Thank you.

That being said I'm left confused. What style of input do my unaffected games use? Pretty sure it's not raw input and based on the article I guess it's not low latency either (whatever they mean by that to begin with). Does that mean there's a normal latency option games use? :P

My fix was to switch my mouse to USB3.0, I know the latency is higher on 3.0 but for me, FOR ME, it works perfectly, but yeah, some strange stuff happened when plugged into a 2.0 slot.

Just got my desktop to take 8.1; apparently messing with drivers and whatnot to get it to boot in RAID mode coming from AHCI resulted in upgrade not taking. I've played BF4 on it without issue, 'RAW Mouse Input' option checked, no issues there. I'll see if I can't boot up something else that might throw it. Any suggestions?
