Hi,
I'm a newbie here, and very much a computer numptie, so I hope you'll bear with me, and what is probably a very simple query !

I have a Dell Vostro 1220 laptop, which has a dying battery, and I want to replace it, but technical terminology is making me hesitate before clicking the Amazon button.
Having taken the battery off, I find I need a Type P649N, Rating 14.8vm and capacity 32Wh. I also know it's a 4-cell.
The info given on the Amazon replacement - http://www.amazon.co.uk/PowerSmart-Dell ... ostro+1220 - says that its capacity is 2200mAh, which I don't know how to compare. However, it does quote the model no P649N, but doesn't say if it's 4-cell or not.

Help !

And 2200 mAh is 32.6 Wh (Wh = mAh x 0.001 x volts), so the capacity seems to be a match as well.

Thanks very much for that, both of you - I missed that piece of info about the 4-cell. So it sounds like I can go ahead and order this one with confidence, thanks to you guys !

the cells don't matter as much for what you are looking at. the cells typically mean that more cells (ie a 6 cell vs 4 cell) is a bigger batter with more battery life.

changes in manufacturing and technology can change the size and capacity of a cell. as long as it all fits in the machine according to them manufacturer of the battery.

as JBI quoted the math it looks a match.
