outlook 2003 cutting bottom of email off

Sat Nov 23, 2013 7:42 am

This started just this week to three different people on the same Windows 2003 small business network. The all are running Windows 7 pro and Outlook 2003. What happens is they create an email, spell check it, and then send it. Sporadically the end of the email (anywhere from a sentence to a couple of paragraphs) get cut off. If you look at the sent items you see this, the data is just not there. Other times they get an email, edit it, and forward it, and the edits (cutting out a paragraph for instance) are back in the email. The rest of the time it's fine. They also run Symantec end point protection. Anyone ever hear of this? I'm currently scanning for malware, but there have been no major changes recently to blame this on.

Hello bigjohn888jb, seems that we have the same Problem here. Nearly the same Software configuration (Small Business, W2K3, SEP, W7Pro, OL2K3). The last Weekend i have upgraded IE to Version 11, so this would be my first guess. Just have to find out how to revert from IE11 to IE10. Do you already have a solution to this Problem?

Same thing happened at my work (office 2003 / win 7 pro), I just upgraded the user from office 2003 to 2013.

All the info I read about said the fix is to delete and recreate the mail profile, but she needed the newer office suite anyway.

Today changed all W7 Clients from IE11 to IE10. No Problems reported by users up to now. I do not think that the problem is related to the Outlook profiles. We have checked this for a single user, without success wrt the problem. Maybe the new Rendering engine is so optimized that this email verbiage is just cut off due to nonsense Content? :D

@ColeLT1: Maybe the newer Office version would be a solution, but we have still not decided how to go on with which version. The Office version 2013 is not so convincing in many aspects.

Signed up just to post here. We are experiencing the same issue with a few of our clients. Very random and sporadic. Will check to see if they have IE11 installed and will report back. In the meantime, if anyone else has any other idea/suggestions, please keep us informed! Thx!

Just to complete this from my side: Up to now no further problems reported by my users. So it seems to be a problem in coworking of IE11 and OL2003.

@JdubyaK: It would still be interesting, whether there are clients with this problem not having installed IE11. Maybe you could tell this here.

@wobbel02 Will do. We're still collecting info from our end, but can confirm users are all running Win 7 and Outlook 2003. I'll confirm the IE11 theory and report back. Thanks!

Our company is having the same issue. Win2008 RDS server with IE 11 installed and using Outlook 2003 full client. Messaging cut off at the moment the user hits send. The message in the Sent Items is also cut off. Very transient problem - happens almost randomly. That makes it very difficult to troubleshoot bc we can't recreate it.

Its just the NSA harvesting data from your e-mails. Completely normal. Return to work now. Thanks. -NSA

Outlook 2003 uses IE's rendering engine for emails, make sense, it's almost shocking that it works up to IE10. From Outlook 2007 up, they ditched IE for rendering emails for mainly security reasons IIRC. Now it's harder to try scripting attacks, etc through HTML emails as the rendering engine has a much smaller feature set than IE does.
