Reduce Network Folder Missing Timeout

Wed Jan 08, 2014 7:02 pm

Hi Guys,

Have you ever had the pleasure of trying to use a shortcut to a network folder on another computer, but had that computer turned off? The wait of exactly 45 seconds is quite painful. Anyone know if there is a registry entry to change this. If the network drive is not available, I think a 5 second wait would be just fine... maybe less. Searching the registry for "45" is quite futile...

Thanks!

No idea if this works: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/libr ... 38292.aspx

If it does, it'll be good to know.

Ahh! Great! That seems to have done it. That registry entry mentioned in the article was not present, but I added it to my registry and as near as I can tell, the error pops up much quicker. Thanks for the tip!
