6" IDE cables

Wed Oct 22, 2003 1:23 pm

Has anyone tried these 6" cables in their shuttle?

I don't doubt it's ability to reach the HD, just wondering how it would work for my optical drive.

If 6 inches is a bit too short you can also make your own shortened cables by cutting the cable right after the middle connector. Make sure it's a clean cut though, any left over cable bits could cause signal interference.

That's what I have now but they're not rounded, just generic IDE cables that came with one of my motherboards. I used a utility knife to cut them and they work great but flat IDE is soo freaking ugly.

I was hoping another SFF dude had already tried them and could give me a thumbs up or down either way. I may just wind up ordering a few pairs and if they don't work for the optical drive on the Shuttle then I'll use them on one of my other cases since the HD's are soo close to the ports.
