I think it makes good music for a requiem so this one is for you Nelson:

The original version is 32 minutes and personally I skip the first 11 minutes so keep that in mind if you listen to the original which is also on YT but in multiple parts.

Thank you. I think I will be getting this.

I'm doing noise reduction work right now on an album. My first 2-3 passes I do by only looking at the waveform, so I'm listening to Miles Davis - The Man with the Horn while editing a track. :D

Other than really blatant clicks/pops I've generally found it quite difficult to spot noise visually. Need to actually listen with at least half a brain to get an idea of where the problems are, then zoom in.

There's an art form to it. I'm fairly zoomed in to the waveform and I can usually just see the noise since at this point I've trained myself to know what it looks like. I'm also just marking it, not actually fixing it. I make 2-3 passes w/o listening, then I listen to the marked point, then the entire track I listen to 1 second samples until I've made it through. I will generally make 3-4 different versions editing it till I feel like I've found the best compromise (sometimes it's a choice between maybe "cutting" into a small split second of music or noise. I do this then I pass the tracks back to the person who paid for the service. Generally that's an internal customer.

I've been digging the OST for Rogue Legacy lately, especially Gordon McGladdery's pieces, e.g. this acoustic guitar + chiptune track:

A Shell in the Pit - Manta (Bonus)

Another from the OST, again with his acoustic folk-inspired instrumentation and chiptunes, but this time with effects-laden electric guitar and percussion elements from medieval weaponry and armor (there's a driving leather-on-stone stomp which is fun, and a chain mail drop functions as a kind of brushed snare or rattle and it really stands out; I freakin' love it):

A Shell in the Pit - The Fish and the Whale (End Credits)

You can listen to his commentary on each of the tracks which was done for the recent loudr.fm game music bundle:

https://soundcloud.com/rogue-legacy-ost

If you don't like the chiptune aspect he has many albums without it; apparently this was first foray into chiptunes.

Johnny Heartsman & The Blues Company - Flute Juice — Infectiously fun, that.

And hell if isn't just a raw little jam, but this has been stuck rattling around in my brain for weeks now:

Moon Hooch - Number 9 — 2 sax, 1 kit, catchy riff, bit of improv... ear thoroughly wormed.

And this, because I love her voice: Blossom Dearie - Comment Allez Vous

Finally, I've been noticing this in my ambient playlist a lot lately: Kaki King - Cargo Cult — She's one of the most interesting living musicians iyam, not necessarily in terms of virtuosity but certainly in terms of making absorbing soundscapes.

Decolonize the Mind, by Neaera.

Death metal certainly isn't for everyone. I dig the guitar riffs Neaera writes, even if there's room for a bit more maturity in its compositions.

Heh.

Though they're not death metal by any stretch of the imagination, BOC (the original inspiration for the cowbell meme) are grossly under-rated. They've done some fantastic stuff (and some pretty cheesy stuff too, unfortunately... *sigh*). But there's a lot more to them than just "Don't Fear The Reaper", "Godzilla", and "Burning For You".

NP: The Buckethead download PenGun linked.

Edit: Holy f'n sh*t. How many albums can one guy release, anyway? There's 6 this month alone! Buckethead is a lunatic. But I guess we already knew that.

I'm listening to "let it go" from the Disney movie "Frozen". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moSFlvxnbgk

Not quite in the same vain as the previous comments regarding death metal though, but it's a super catchy song and very well done.

Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac: Oh Well Part II, from Then Play On.

I loves me a Clint spaghetti western. The classical guitar/cello/recorder here on Oh Well Pt II vies equally with the finale of Pink Floyd's Atom Heart Mother as music that should have been played at the 3-way Mexican standoff near the denouement of TG,TB,&TU

Erra - Augment

Fell in love with this album from the HUGE intro to the very last note. Of all the "djentcore" coming out that all sounds like ABR trying to sound like Periphery, this band is the most unique and talented.

Djam Karet - The Trip

Didn't even realize they had released this, it apparently came out about a year ago. I would describe it as a 47-minute long ambient/psychedelic/prog jam. Highly recommended.

I grabbed it as a digital download from Bandcamp. Lossless FLAC FTW!
