Something that will stress my 770 SLI setup

Sat Mar 01, 2014 4:50 pm

Okay here is my situation. I am running a 2600k at 4712mhz with 2 4GB EVGA GTX 770 Classified cards in SLI and I am gaming at 1080p.

I already know it is overkill but I picked up my second 4GB 770 classified for a 15th of what they cost in real life "$32" so I am now running 2 4GB gtx 770 cards in SLI @ 1080p and I am looking for a beautiful game that will stress the heck out of them if that is possible at all.

So if anyone has any suggestions on a game that might stress my setup please let me know because I want to stretch out these bad boys legs if I can.

I just put the card in a hour ago so I have not done much with it besides run 3dmark11 and scored 17897 performance points...3rd in the world with my equipment...2600k and 2 GTX770's...it also scored in the top 3% of all systems so I am a happy camper and i do not think i will have to worry about upgrading anything for at least 2-3 years as long as nothing breaks.
I also have the system hooked up to as 55" panasonic VT30 3D TV, so the most demanding game I have is Crysis 3 that supports SBS 3d so I enabled the built in 3d support in crysis 3 along with turning every setting up to the max and I got a steady 60fps and it never budged from that 60fps. Since i never tried it before I do not know if that is good or not. But it sure looked cool:)

Sleeping Dogs on ultra is pretty demanding, but to me it looks like you now have too little monitor for too much GPU.
Considered picking up one of those Korean 27" 1440p monitors?

Sounds very cool. At that price I would have bought as many as I could. But, I'm guessing it was just one from some one you knew.

I honestly can't think of a modern game that will give that set up a real work out. Then again there has not been a recent game that caught my interest. Maybe BF4 but I think you already hit the game most testers load up for stressing a GPU with Crysis 3.

JAE,
I want that new Dell U3415W Cinema Display with 3440x1440 Resolution in a 21:9 ultra-wide aspect-ratio.

So This offering (regardless of manufacturer) offers many positive aspects (pun intended)
34" diagonal (large physical size)
Higher resolution and pixel density (1440p baseline vs 1080p baseline)
21:9 aspect (wider than 16:9, but less stretching than Eyefinity or Surround)
Lower pixel count (2.5x HD, versus 3x HD for EF/S and 4x for UHD)
No bezels

So its like driving 2.5 1080p displays instead of a 4k monitor that is 4 1080p displays.

http://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=84&t=26901 Check out this link comparing it to a 30" display...like it says I think we have a winner. I think it has the best size to pixel ratio, its nice and wide so you get peripheral vision and it is basically like having 2 monitors side by side without bezels. 3440-1440 is a sweet spot plus I think it will be much easier to drive then a 4k monitor.
If I was to ghet a 4k monitor it would have to be at least 40"...smaller it is just wasted pixels I think.

That resolution with 120hz would be nothing short of boner-inducing.

PW,
With a 3440x1440 resolution on a 34 inch IPS panel I would be happy with 60hrtz..sure 120 would be nice but 60 would suit me just fine. Like I said 21/9 is the perfect aspect ratio for gaming, watching movies and productivity. I am already cringing on what the price is going to be on the new 21/9 Dell panel.
Also with less pixels to push compared to a UHD display, a pair of 4GB 770's in a SLI setup would be Ideal for 3440x1440, but to push a UHD display with 4x the pixels of a 1080p display to get High frame rates you would need a pair of the new titan blacks in SLI with 6gb of Vram to not be limited by 4 gazzilion pixels.

As for the $32 deal I would have bought every one the guy had if he had anymore

Yeah, I suppose 120hz is quite impractical and pricey from a GPU power to screen resolution perspective, but we can dream, can't we?

So has anyone gotten one of these to see how they are yet? It looks like a really good price and I may get one, but dont like to jump in without any idea what the quality is.

Yes, I have 2 of the koreon 1440p monitors and I love them. I bought an X-star dp2710 which is basically the same as the Qnix you listed. Single DVI-D port, no scaler, low response time for gaming, and they can overclock to about 100hz. I paid $315/ea on ebay for "perfect pixel" versions 6-7 months ago. I did have a problem with the first monitor that I was sent in that there was bad backlight edge bleeding in the lower left hand corner and a clump of 2-3 dead pixels in the upper right hand corner. It could have been livable except I paid the extra for a "perfect pixel" version so I sent it back. I had to haggle a little with the korean-based seller so he would pick up the return-shipping costs, but he eventually did and I ended up with 2 absolutely perfect monitors.

Of course I recently have seen a slightly newer monoprice version with DVI and VGA that looks pretty good. It would be nice to have the extra display input just for testing purposes. http://www.monoprice.com/Product?ab3=b& ... ice.com%2F

Yeah looking at that one too, the extra VGA would be nice as I could still use it with my KVM along with my other rigs too. Going with that one though you give up the ability to overclock the refrsh rate on it. I will take a look at what else is available, got to be something out there that fits what I am looking for.

Well looks like it will not work with my current video card, as it only has a single link DVI on it :(

Only option for me short of video card upgrade is this one I found on monoprice with Displayport, VGA, HDMI, and dual link DVI.

Its on sale for a little off right now, so anyone with one of these and is it worth it?
