Printer issues

Thu Apr 17, 2014 8:16 am

So I have the HP 6500A plus
Everything I print the colour is very bad I have given it for servicing and they charged me about 100$ fast forward 5 months since then the problem still persists for the five months it was not used and kept aside now I'm wondering do I change the cartridges or just get a new printer

This printer has been nothing but a headache the first few pages print fine then the colour gets bad like multi color bad

Anyone know a fix or solution?

Inkjet printers do not like being left sitting unused for extended periods. This is not a problem that is specific to this model, or even to HP inkjets. It is a feature of pretty much *all* inkjets. The ink eventually dries out in the print head, and clogs the nozzles.

Since this is an HP, replacing the ink cartridges will probably help. Unlike other vendors, HP integrates the nozzles into the cartridges, so you are effectively replacing the print head when you replace the cartridges. But if you leave it sit unused for 5 months after installing the new cartridges, chances are it will be messed up again.

just get a new one, you can get a nice color laser for $100 and be done with drying up inks

as they sit, the ink clots... I would get a new one.

The MFC brother one i have seems to be great. Only Printer I have owned that every once in a while, it fires up itself and cleans the cartridges. Only tip is do NOT by "compatible" cartridges..I tried to cheap out and it bit me. They are terrible.

mine model is Brother MFC-J835DW - its wireless, touchscreen, fax, scanner, printer etc.. and is barely over $100 (I actually have 2 i like it so much... one for home and one for the wifes shop)

For occasional use a laser is much better, since the toner does not go bad just sitting like ink does.

It really depends on whether you need to print color photos. For photo quality you really need an ink jet printer.

true, plus glossy paper $.

personally i have the OKI C110 color laser i bought from tigerdirect when they were on sale for $79 and i love it, i print alot, mostly black but i've yet to get a warning about the toner. I believe the drum size it comes from store is 2500 page yield.

okay so i went out and brought new cartridges but to no avail pictures print as bad as ever now im thinking of giving the clean print head option but will it be worth doing it since all the cartridges are new?

okay so after looking around lot of people have this problem with this model anyways i went ahead and cleaned the print-head after which it printed the first picture perfectly the next one came bad like before so i removed the print-head and cleaned the contacts which had some black ink on it after that magenta stopped working :/ while the other colors started printing fine now im just lost i have tried re cleaning the contacts but it wont bring the magenta color back

EDIT!

Possibly, the cleaning sponge that wipes the print heads is badly fouled and needs to be replaced.

hmm might be but im not sure where that exists in my printer will have to look around
okay i found it and it looks totally soaked and purpulish with a lot of ink splattered around also not sure if that's normal
im sure its the sponge now every 2nd image i print after cleaning the head comes bad
