Captain Ned wrote:That's a negative, Ghostrider, and it's a damn shame. It doesn't support the 3G CDMA that Verizon uses and it only has LTE bands 4/7/17/38/40. While Verizon does use band 4, their LTE workhorse is band 13. The phone also lacks all of the LTE bands that Sprint uses. Will it run on Verizon Wireless (who still boycotts the Nexus phones)?

currently using HTC One S, 4G LTE

Yes.
Fido uses GSM, UMTS, HSPA and HSPA+ at 850 MHz and 1900 MHz and LTE at 2100 MHz and 2600 MHz.
LTE 2600 = Band 7
LTE 2100 = Band 1
One+One specs:
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/8
LTE: Bands: 1/3/4/7/17/38/40

The Nexus line is just Google's way to push the industry; as soon as they no longer see any strategic value to it, they'll shut it down. The problem is that we're halfway towards a new Nexus already and the Nexus5 ain't no slouch. I've found nothing on the market than can slow it down, so adding MORE power is going to be superficial until we have some apps/software that can really tax it.

I've been on the look out for a cheap unlocked phone - and right now my only option is the Nexus5 - which I have and I am not a big fan.

I love my wood-back (walnut) Moto X. Perfect size, nice screen, all animations are smooth. Perfectly snappy. Only downsides is that it doesn't have the greatest battery life (although mine lasts the whole day under moderate-heavy use) and voices sound electronic/fake during calls. Not a big deal, its not muffled or anything, just caught my attention. Got mine for free after $50 MIR at Verizon (of course those thieves charged me $30 upgrade fee)

You should have replaced your GNex when they were blowing out the Nexus 4 for $199/$249 last fall. A far superior device to any other sub-$300 phone. Nexus 5 is a good choice, too, at $350.
