Can I buy just the female part of a VGA/DVI screw?

Sat May 10, 2014 3:05 pm

You know how those VGA/DVI cables have screws at the side of the cables that screw into something female at the graphic card/monitor's end? How do you call that female part? I need to order a replacement... but I don't know what it is!

I'm sure you (or someone you know) has an old video card you could cannibalize one from.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

I think screw lock is the term you're looking for.

Different threading and different size. You may now return to your cheap drugs.

This. Same screw also tends to live near serial and game/midi ports on old motherboards and sound cards.

Even an old serial 9 pin extension should have them as well.

Careful: often these screws are held in place by nuts secured with lock-washers. If they come out you run the risk of potential short-circuits from the nut or washer.

When reassembling, I recommend using some Lock-Tite (or equivalent).
