LG LED TV goes black after few seconds. no video no sound

Sat May 17, 2014 5:08 pm

LG LED TV turns on but after a minute or so, the pictures and sound both go away. I opened the TV and the back light and sound turns off after some time. Is it the power supply?

Does the power light flash in a weird series of blinks that could indicate a failure code.

Most newer TV's use the power light to display a trouble code to let you know hat component needs to be replaced.

Good luck.
EDIT: you might have to unplug the power cord to TV wait 10 seconds then replug it in and try turning it on again to possibly get a code from it.
Also google you TV model and problem....you just might find a answer there.

If I power it off and then power on, it works just fine for a minute or so. It powers on normal.

Well I googled it and there are many mentions of power supply problems.
Thoroughly inspect the power supply for bulging capacitors etc.

Without looking at it myself this is about all the info I can give you.
If it does have bulging capacitors or some other problem with the PSU it might be on its own board that you may be able to purchase a replacement power board. But if the price of the board is half as much as the TV you might as well buy a new TV.
