I still think we are getting a Intel soft launch soon with some Intel hand picked CPU's so they can show them off.

But like you said availability will probably be sept.

Not much point rushing things when you've got no real competition.

Indeed. With the ongoing Bulldozer disaster and the tablet threat settling down we may be starting to see that old, imperialistic Intel again. Putting a bugfixed Bay Trail in the 2820 NUC and not distinguishing it from the buggy product is a particularly telling example of a company that doesn't see the need to be competitive, to say nothing of the cost per unit of CPU performance remaining roughly unchanged for the last 2-3 years. In fairness to Intel, 14 nm is a really small number and it wouldn't surprise me at all if they're not getting reliable silicon--just because marketing promises something by a certain date does not automatically mean that R&D is capable of making it happen.

I am pretty sure that more than the marketing department has input on launch dates.

Since I do not expect the whole idea of "holidays" being canceled any time soon....

I'm not convinced. Q3 starts in July, not September.

Just checked the SEC filings to see if Intel has an odd fiscal year end, but no, their fiscal and calendar are both 12/31.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

But hey, desktop Skylake in about a year!

Wait... locked models only. Gonna have to settle for Broadwell if you want to overclock.

K is the new E, it seems.
