My high school marching band performed this arrangement my freshman year. It took a lot of practice to nail those fast sequences.

Resistor - To The Stars (h/t progarchy.com). JBI, think I found a new one for you (yet I know you'll come back at me with full knowledge of their back catalog). I hear Tull, Rush, Kansas, The Outlaws, plenty of good guitar (but not oppressive like some other acts). Methinks I need this on silver and will definitely add it to the Zune.

the GazettE - Loss

I have the whole album, Beautiful Deformity, in queue. They are an awesome Japanese Rock/Metal band. I've been a fan of them for 6 years now. Everyone should check them out! If you like them, feel free to become my friend here! I love talking about their music, or any modern metal in general.

Ziltoid the Omniscient by Devin Townsend. Just made a Ziltoid character in ESO so this is more than appropriate.

Played that in high school jazz band when it was still on the radio. If you want to turn up Chuck Mangione a notch or two, go find Children of Sanchez.

Going to have to listen to this at work tomorrow. Thanks!

John Zorn and Bill Laswell in Antwerp 2012. Milford Graves on drums and Larry Coryell on the last two tracks.

Pretty fine, I guess fusion, perhaps. ;)

 Well yeah... Zorn certainly can be hard to categorize, eh?

I'm currently listening to Paul Gilbert's "Get Out Of My Yard". Recently picked up a bunch of his back catalog. Good stuff.

Indeed, I like Paul. Got Steve Morse on now, from Sept 2013 in Boston. With Dave Larue on bass and Van Romaine on drums. I have always liked his stuff.

Well, it was an hour ago, but it was Jerry and the gang jamming on " Dark Star" as the sun set in front of me over the desert desolation of SE Arizona as I made my way back to PHX from Bisbee to fly home.

Heh heh. I'd list some of the stuff I sing along to in the car, but it would be rather embarrassing.

Edit: And speaking of China Girl... Bowie getting SRV to play guitar on the "Let's Dance" album was an insane stroke of brilliance. While it may seem to be a bit of an odd pairing, it works really well in practice (and was effectively SRV's big break, he got his record deal and released his debut album shortly afterwards). Cat People (from the same album) is quite possibly my favorite David Bowie song; it is actually the theme song from a weird-ass '80s movie; if you haven't seen it you probably should...

Edit 2: The '80s version is apparently a remake of a weird-ass '40s movie, which I guess I will need to watch someday too.

Terje Rypdal Odyssey In Studio & In Concert

I had previously owned only the (abridged) single disc CD reissue of what was originally a double LP. ECM recently reissued it as a triple CD set (the first two CDs containing the original studio release, and the third consisting of previously unreleased material from the same period).

Fantastic.

No one song, just a whole bunch of Ann & Nancy making Robert Plant feel insecure. Yes, this is search, but JBI knows from whence I speak.

Sandy Denny (probably my favorite female voice) got an LZ glyph for her work on LZ4 and "The Battle of Nevermore". If jimmy & Robert have any sense they'd create glyphs for Ann & Nancy as well.

I hadn't heard of these guys until recently. The singer is Josh Eppard's brother, aka Coheed's drummer.

The wife & daughter in the never-ending argument over homework not turned in.

Sell your children before they become teenagers. They fetch a higher price and the mental peace is worth it.

And yes, slap a [/Heavy Sarcasm] tag on that one. I'm just tired of listening to the battles. Ugh.

On the other end of the spectrum from Captain Ned, I'm listening to my daughter play some Frozen-related game on a Disney-related website, and she's singing along to the same 60-second clip of "Let It Go". It was adorable at first but after 15-20 minutes of it (because she's 5), but I think I'm done.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

If I could have the bubbly, zany, & happy 5YO back for a night singing along to (the once detested) Lion King or Aristocats instead of the surly teen I have now I'd be in heaven. Enjoy now the small annoyances as they only get more existential as the kid gets older.

No not Zorn, that's Peter Brötzmann on sax. They are terrifying, I have vids if you want, a couple of vobs I beat out of the CD DATs. ;) Pretty low res ... but it's Last Exit.

Doing some paperwork in the cubicle (i.e. moving paper from one folder to another or into a box according to agency guidelines) this AM with the earphones in and I must say that the flip side of Abbey Road (yeah, I think in LP terms; deal with it) is not only the best side of music the Beatles ever made, but one of the best sides of music, period.
