Another LG UM95 34"3440-1440 post with video link

Thu Jun 19, 2014 9:48 am

I do no know about everyone else here but I do enjoy Linus tech tips Videos. They are pretty thorough and not drawn out and quick to the point so I am posting his Video review on the LG 34" 21:9 3440-1440 IPS monitor that goes over the features and capabilities when it comes to gaming and work related tasks. Without further a due here is the videos link.

I really enjoyed the point in the video when he said "I have officially been converted, I am ditching my twin 23" 1080p monitors for work and at home I would also like to replace my ProArt PA279Q at home that is a fine IPS 2560 x 1440 monitor.

This video makes me want this monitor even more then I already did by another at least %50. I know I sound like a broken record but the only con I can find with this monitor is LG did not including a good vertical adjustment that I think should be around 10 inches of adjustment. It does not matter to me since my glass and steeldesk has a 8" elevated

Yeah, that thing is so sweet and a great step between 2560x1440 and 4k beasts. Now we just need the $500 Korean import version (so spoiled I know).

Edit: For full price I would have to have 120Hz and some form of adaptive vsync as well as a better stand and perfect out of the box calibration. Displayport could handle 120Hz at that res, right?

I am not sure if Display port will support 120hz at 3440-1440 resolution but I do know for a fact no pair of video cards is going to be able to push out 120FPS at that resolution unless you make some pretty dramatic picture quality compromises.

Oh and I never finished my original post since I had to fly out of the house. My final sentence of my original post was supposed to say the height adjustment is a non issue for me since my silver metal black wood framed desk and a black accented 48" wide glass top that is 30" high and 23" deep black wood framed Glass desktop with a 26" wide and 14" deep clear glass keyboard tray under the top glass that is accented in black around 12" wide on both the right and left sides of the otherwise 48" clear top with a 7" high 24"" wide and 11" deep elevated glass monitor shelf at the rear of the desk supported buy 2 metal silver bars with 2 aprrox 2.5" wide wooden black top accents that hold the 19 or so inch wide clear piece of glass. With the monitor having a silver design with a clear glass like base it is a match made in heaven. It's going to look AWESOME :o After searching the net for a good hour I finally found my desk! For the size, looks/paint/finish/glass quality and sturdy build I still cannot believe I got the desk for $70 from Stapels around 3 years ago and it has no wear marks what so ever. If you can find one anywhere I would Highly Recommend this desk to anyone looking for a modern style desk with a lot of space.

I just might have to do a custom flat silver paint job with a nice matte clear coat on my Razer Black Widow Ultimate keyboard along with my matching Imperator mouse. Also since I keep my HAF922 case on a small 18"x 18" end table the same height as my desk my Case may be getting a Custom silver paint job with black accents of some kind also.

Don't disagree but I'm told a 120Hz desktop is a nice thing and I'm pretty sure that even though the primary advantages of adaptive sync come into play low frame rates/high frame times the speedier the refresh cycle the sooner you seen the new frame when it is finished rendering... Right?

Agreed Drfish, but as of right now my only available attainable dream monitor is limited to 60hz. I have heard that it may be able to be overclocked a slight bit maybe to 75hz but I would not bet on it as of right now. But I would take 75hz over 60hz any day of the week:)
