g is obviously newer than a or b, offers more bandwidth. Not sure about processing requirements and power consumption though. And don't know if they've addressed security on wireless. Rather worthless 2c of mine. :wink:

I've got b and g networks. Had less problems with the g after I updated the routers to the latest firmware and drivers. B works well too, just a budget thing I think ;)

"g" is supposedly better for High dwelling areas. i.e. apartments. I get good range from my 'G' router I can be in my care on the street and connect, "I live in a apartment on the second floor". And I secure my wireless through MAC address.

yeah but whats with all these advertisements that claim certain bands
provide 54mbps and now the new 118mbps... over the normal 11mbps speeds???

54mpbs is the "g" flavor. (11mpbs is "b".)

118mbps is Netgear's proprietary "Super G" technology, which is currently the subject of some dispute. Other wireless vendors are claiming that the "Super G" equipment unduly interferes with other 802.11x networks operating in the vicinity.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

I've got 'B+', it's budget 22Mbps, but it works!

I got g and I can take my laptop up the roofterras and download at 225k/s,the distance I gues is about 15 meters (50 ft.) with several concrete walls inbetween.
If it works,I might buy one...
