Car Power Converter

Looking at getting a car power converter to use my laptop while out and about. Interested in what wattage converter others are using and what is the recommended minimum for safely powering my system.

The AC adapter brick for your laptop should tell you what you need to know. Take the numbers from there, apply a safety factor (I'd give maybe a 25% cushion or so), and you're good to go.

Most laptops only draw about 60-75 watts. So even a 150 Watt inverter is plenty for that. Just remember to give that sucker some breathing room, I killed one when it got buried under blankets on a trip.

Basic forumula: Watt's Law P = I * E

So Watts = 110 * Amps which is on the bottom of the AC Adapter.

Can't make it easier ;)
