Well, I finally, after months of digging, figured out why my roommates Geforce 2 MX PCI will not work in XP. It is a non TV out model, but it has the TVOUT bios.

Creepy.

Now to see if I can find a Hercules Geforce 2 MX bios.....

BTW, anyone know if the Herc G2MX PCI uses a Reference board design?

Feh.

It's not bios related as far as I can tell. I don't know why, but this card seems to think it's got a Bt868 when it *does not exist on the card*.

Bootup time takes, 5 minutes. Go into advanced modes and hit twinview, STOP, infinite loop.

Very frustrating.... I'm gonna shoot the damn card soon.

Are you using the nvidia generic drivers or hercules ones? If herc has done something odd with the bios, thier own drivers may correct the issue. OTOH, the infinite loop stuff is a pervasive problem with new nvidia drivers. See if you can get some slightly older drivers from hercules.

EO: Tried both Hercules and Nvidia drivers. Have also tried bios'es from a variety of cards, with and without TVCode in them. Have had zero luck with anything. I think the card is broken, but I still can't figure out why it thinks it's got a brooktree in it.

OH well, roommate is going to buy a Kyro2 this week, and I'll just use that pci as a video for my linux server.
