I know this is out of topic but please indulge me. I’m considering buying a Thinkpad X20 P3 600 MHz. Is it a good buy at 1000$ or should I look for a better deal? It must be in the same price range.

I like that it is an extreme notebook with no CD or floppy but I wouldn’t mind at all to get one with CD and floppy.

What do you think?

I have that exact same laptop here at work. Mine has the optional docbase with a cd/floppy... the CD drive seems a little shotty; I've had some (but few) issues reading CDRs. My only real gripe about it is that the modem doesnt work in Linux (i'm dual booting XP/RH). Everything else works quite nice. It's very lght, which is a big plus! No GL support, big minus. For a $1000 laptop i'd say its a preatty good buy.

Yeah I'd say 1000 for that laptop sounds pretty darn well to me.

Thank you for your replies. I have already bought it and I expect it tomorrow.
