MadMan: hehe, was wondering if you'd notice... was trailing you by a whole 0.2 points at one stage! and, since you've already overtaken me as i write this, i have to admit: the experience of being in front, as sweet and joyous as it was, was but a fleeting one... running the 1700 24/7 now? damn, and i though we were friends!! ;)

be warned though: i'm busy buttering up the bigheads at work, making all kinds of subtle noises about DC... they too will turn to the Dark Fold, and together we will crush the rebellion and rule the galaxy as father and... oh, hang on.

btw, the new 3.01 client works great. i had issues with sending WUs before and they seem to have cleared up completely now. (!!!) the new client also seems to behave properly when in "ask before connecting" mode. (with client 2.0 it didn't always ask!)

Well, as for the 1700+:

I can't really run it 24/7. It is my parent's computer, and I will have to go over there and set it up to wake and sleep when they are out of the house. :) It doesn't run enough otherwise to do much good. :( They aren't computer junkies like me.

Instead, what I am going to do is get a Celeron 1.1A and put it into my TUSL2-C motherboard (which is going unused ATM.) Then I will OC it to somewhere between 1466-1600 MHz. Then I'll get a super-cheap motherboard and slap a Celeron 633 that is gathering dust into it. So, I will have two full-time folders, albeit fairly weak ones. They should do some good WU's for me. :)

Oh, and if you get the computers at work to run folding for you, I am calling a foul. lol, NOT FAIR!!

Just brought a pair of Dual MP's online myself. Top 10 by July 4th!!!

Doh! Great Minds think alike!!! I had a Dual MP 2000+ setup ordered last week to run simulations at work...Of course it will need burned in with some app that is very CPU-intensive...wonder what that could be?

I'm starting to brace for the inevitable spanking that is inherently part of losing my first place standing to the Mighty Folding Power of Damage.

I'd be more distressed over my numbered days at the top, but I'm getting broadband internet (finally) in less than 36 hours.

It sure does help to ease the pain. :)

After I get knocked out of first maybe then I can get this huge bullseye off of my back. Steel has also been posting some good numbers and my lead on HIM is lessening as well.

:D

But the heat is doing bad things to my #1 folder. I've had to throttle it back to 50% to keep the overheating protection from turning the machine off. Anyone know how to adjust the C.O.P. on a A7N266-C? ;)

yarbo: feels good doesn't it? :) i was so busy biting at the heels of MMO i hardly even noticed when we passed the 100 mark! no rest for the wicked eh?

in other news: The Team TR Folding Support Group™ has grown steadily in numbers and the mutual support of other Foldaholics™ has benefitted almost everyone involved. Unfortunately, the program seems to be failing dismally at actually breaking the habit of any of its members... with all involved still very much in the grasp of this terrible and senseless activity. Group leaders have called an emergency conference to resolve the issue, but reports from those nearby have lead to suspicions that they are, in fact, simply refining their folding strategy and drinking beer.

Yaaaa, finally!

Tue Jun 25, 2002 2:19 pm

Finally convinced the powers that be to upgrade my box to an Athlon 1800+ from my old P.O.S. 900PIII with a crap motherboard which squashed performance to that of my home PIII600. Better watch out you single CPU guys.

As for the rest of you who have to run generators to keep your main breaker from poping, I don't want to hear it!

I'm running pretty average stuff... just LOTS and LOTS of it.
My strategy was slow and steady wins the race. It WAS working until Damage and Steel pulled out the nukes.

Well I got the machine in my sig running 24/7, my celery 500 that was running 24/7 died and I replaced w/a P200 =(
Gettin my amd mobo back from rma soon so I will be adding my Duron 1.2 into the mix.
Myabe will upgrade that proc to a 1900+ or so.
Also have a Bp6 on the way if I play my cards right.
You know you are addicted to F@H when you plug in a an old P200 just to get the 1 unit every week or so in.

Wow. why everyone gunning for me?? lol

Inside a month I expect to have my two mini-folders (the Celerons) up and running. Only reason I have been able to do a decent amount last few days is The Myth of Soma has been down for server problems, so my P4 has been going about 20 hours a day.

yarbo: it's not just overtaking MMO, it's STAYING ahead. That's the problem!

MadMan: i've reached a new low: was ahead of you by 0.01 points earlier, and felt really proud! 0.01... sheesh.

Hehe. I guess Yarbo and JohnnyQ have ganged up on me?? Haven't been able to get the 1700+ (my parent's) running very much, because there is no way to have it auto-turn on only during the weekdays. :) So, I expect you guys will crush me since I am still running only the P4 @ 2.4B GHz. Good luck!

I just started folding with this beast last week. I've been playing a lot of games, though, and that'll kill your score, needless to say.

188th place, yes!

MadManOriginal: I heard about a way to dial-in and have it "wake-up" from sleep, but I have no idea where to start :-?

Speaking of folding, has anyone ever had any problems with it causing BSODs in Win98? We installed it on my brother's 98SE machine this morning and the damn thing has BSODed a dozen times since.

It also says "C:\WINDOWS\system\version.dll appears to be corrupt" right as Win98 restarts and before it locks up.

We uninstalled the folding program in safe mode, and the problems persist! Scanreg says everything's okay, but I'm not sure how trustworthy that is. Any ideas?

Rakhmaninov3: if the BSODs are folding related, they're probably caused by the extra heat from having the CPU at 100% activity all the time... if not, you might want to try removing all unnecessary components (sound, NIC, modem etc) and see if that helps. then reintroduce cards till you get the probs again. or reinstall 98 and do a windows update. or, better yet, upgrade to win2000. :) good luck.

ya, just replace the file with a good one off a working copy or the cd.
