Has anyone seen any benchmarks of workstation performance using a networked database with the Celeron and Pentium processors?

I've seen no benches, but the P3 should do well thanks to bigger cache and faster bus. Both of those factors are key to database performance.

The Celeron should have the same amount of cache as the P3, plus it has data prefetch and the really nice heatspreader to keep you processor from teetering on the core. The only thing that the P3 has that the Celeron doesn't is the 133 Mhz FSB, although with proper cooling and a decent motherboard you should be able to achieve a 133 Mhz overclock with no problems either

Bomber: the 1.2 celeron was the first (to the best of my knowledge) to have a 256KB L2 cache, all its predecessors had a 128KB cache. Worse, the smaller cache was 2-way associative as opposed to the 4-way associative cache of the P3.

Yah, the tulatin was a major revamp of the P3 core. Didn't realise that all the improvements got integrated at the 1.0GHz level in the Celeron. My bad. However, any previous Celeron will be much worse off.
