Yea i'm running Win2k pro and whenever I explore a music cd or use winamp to try to play it, it doesn't recognize the files as wav files but instead, cda files. I find that windows media player can play these files. Also, when I try to rip a cd it just rips at 1x and plays the song. I DON'T WANT TO RIP AT 1X. Any ideas?

I'm not sure what the problem with your ripping software is, as I don't know what program you are using. But I can tell you that the files on the cd are showing up as .cda files becuase they are not wav files on the CD. The CD Audio format is not directly accessable as a wav.

CD-Audio files are, in fact, *.CDA files and not *.WAV. CD-Audio is converted to *.WAV format when ripping or writing from/to a CD.

As for your ripping problem, no one can really help you unless you tell us a) what brand/model CD-RW you are using and b) what specific CD-writing software you are using.

Well i'm using the 16x Pioneer slot loading dvd drive and audio catalyst as my ripper. I never had this problem with my other machines on Win98, they'd just recognize the files as wav. I never had to convert anything.
