Its a photoshop edit of friend. He did an edit of me. Which in turn inspired me to sit down and see what i could do in photoshop. I've been looking to see how people like Andrzej Dragan on photo.net does his stuff. And labbing with photoshop is pretty fun.

This is the original image before the edit above.

And here is his edit of me.

I know this is a late response to my images- I am sorry, I have been doing my dissertation and forgot about this thread... I have only just got into photography (I got my first SLR under a year ago when this where taken- just over a year now! :) so I am chuffed that people like my images...

I can’t remember exactly what setting I used for the bird... I just used the widest aperture to throw the background out of focus and fired off a few shots.

As for the sir show- I left it on sport mode because things where going rather quickly and i did not have to time to keep changing the sittings.

I have a Pentax MZ6 and I used Fuji Superia 400 for the air show, as I needed a touch of speed. I don’t normally use 400.

The negatives where scanned in at a local place.

I am glad you liked them! (They are on page 6 if you haven’t seen them yet!

Cheers!

Aphasia, you lucky bugger! Nice camera. I would love to have low-noise high ISOs for astronomy and indoor flashless shots. Now if only my wife could find a job!!! (Damn upstate NY economy!)

Wow, nice shots guys. I'm glad you all kept the thread alive while I was gone.

Please resize images that are wider than 1024 pixels -- 800 would be optimal. It's a bit of a pain when the tables get broken and people have to scroll right to see text. Many LCD monitors only display 1280 pixels wide, so 1024 is actually stretching it.

My sister had a wedding last weekend and I took 600 shots. Here is one I like a lot -- not because of any technical achievement in the picture, but because it's a picture unlike the others being taken.

The professional photographers were mostly getting shots of people posting for pictures. They were great photographers, no doubt, but I thought it would be fun to get some pictures of people interacting so they could remember the most enjoyable parts of the wedding years from now.

Image

The story behind that picture is interesting. This is her second wedding and she was relating a story about how she and her kids would often go for walks when they lived in Kentucky. In Kentucky, many people have dogs that aren't on leashes walking around their yards, so her and her kids would kid around and bark at the dogs just having a little fun.

When she started dating the groom, they went for a walk with her kids here in Wisconsin. On that walk they ran into a dog which was barking at them and, desiring to bark at it with her kids as she had so many times in the past, she growled at it. She started to explain what Jon (the groom) proceeded to do when he took the microphone and started barking in it loudly for about 15 seconds. It sounded _just_ like a dog and the whole banquet hall was laughing for about 60 seconds. I'm lucky the picture isn't blurry.[/img]

In case anyone is interested I applied the "Russian hack" to my 300D because I realized, after the wedding, that I needed Flash Exposure Compensation. The firmware has worked flawlessly for me so far, and I now have cool things like Mirror Lock up, FEC, ISO 3200, and different autofocus modes.

I tried the photomerge feature that comes with Photoshop CS today, it doesnt offer any way of control, so im going to tryout PTGui next. But i did manage to get a workable panorama out of it. But its the first and worst of the bunch.

And yeah, i know it breaks the tables.

Scotland, Isle of Skye. Panorama tryout.

I fell asleep a couple of hours before the eclipse was supposed to be at the fullest (4am here). But i did get a few shots of the moon while testing the Canon 70-300 DO IS USM lense.

This is handheld at 300mm (480mm with my 20D).

This is without the IS.

This is with the Sigma 70-200/2.8 and a 2x tc. 640mm on the 20Dand a tripod

Well heck, who needs a telescope these days. Apahasia, any chance you could list exposure times and camera settings on these? Still massaging the wife on getting a 20D. Astronomy is the biggest reason for me to get one, I am dying to do some faint object work with a low noise camera. My dad's old telescope tracks the stars too, with very little shake so on good nights I could get some great shots with what I see on the 20D.

I am going to have to PM you sometime when I get closer to getting one to find out what glass you like and recommend. You obviously have done your homework.

The first two was taken as a comparsion of IS for an article im working on.
I used a 70-300 DO IS USM at 300mm (480mm on the 20D)

First one was taken handheld at 1/50, F/11 with IS on.
Second was taken at 1/60, F/11 with IS off.

The third, larger one, was taken with a tripod, Sigma 70-200 and a 2x TC.
1/25 and F/16, mirror lockup and self-timer. 400mm (640mm on the 20D).

All are 100% crops at ISO 100.

Where did you take that pic from? I was at Killbear Provincial Park in Ontario over the Canada Day long-weekend. My brother took this pic at the shore of the bay. I must say it looks oddly similar. It was taken with an old Minolta SLR.

Well guys I'm looking at getting into photography and need some opinions.

First off my origional thread about this is located here

I'm probably going to get the Canon S70 for it's wide angle lense and 7MP. What do you guys think? Will this be a decent camera? I'm going Canon because in about a week a local store will be discounting all Canons by alot. I'm hoping I can get some decent images out ot it.
