TR Xbox Live Gamertag Exchange! TR Gamers Unite!

Postposted on Tue Oct 19, 2004 8:15 am

I figured since XBL is full of kiddies who sometimes sour the online gaming experience, us TR guys could exchange Friend Requests on Xbox Live and try to play each other online for a more mature XBL experience. My XBL Gamertag = PerfectCr

Big Update - 3/22/08!
TL:DR: Send a Friend Request to the gamertag TR Gamers (space included) to be added to the list of Tech Report Xbox Live members!

Detailed Update:
Included in the Fall 2007 Update to the Xbox 360 Dashboard is the the ability to view the friends list of other gamers. The "Friends of Friends" feature allows for some very cool implementations. The one I am rolling out today will help keep TR Xbox Live members closer together.

Here's how it works: A free silver gamertag is setup and everyone in the group (in our case, TR members) sends a friend request to that free silver GT. As the list of friends grows on that generic Silver GT, you begin to have a group of people that are connected to one gamertag. Then, use the friends of friends feature to view the friends list of that free silver GT.

So, I have created a Gamertag called TR Gamers. (note there is indeed a space in the name). I am the owner of this gamertag. I will manage it for us. Simply send a Friend Request through the Dashboard or through xbox.com to TR Gamers, and I will accept your invite.

How to view the list of TR Gamers
Once TR Gamers has been added as a Friend, simply open your friends list in the Xbox 360 Dashboard. Click on the TR Gamers Gamertag to expand the profile. Go to the "Personal Profile" tab. Then click "View Friends". Now the list of all TR Xbox Live members who have TR Gamers as their friend will appear. You can invite people right from here to games, send messages, ect. Pretty cool huh? Please note: You will not see your own name on the list of TR Gamers, even if you are a friend of the gamertag. Don't get nervous, you will be there!

I have gone through the entire list in the OP and the past few pages and sent invites to all of you. Please accept this friend request. If I missed you, please send a friend request to TR Gamers and I will accept your invite! This new method will replace the list currently being maintained in the OP.

Request: Please put" TR: or "TechReport" in your Xbox Live profile somewhere. Preferably putting it in the motto or your bio will work. Simply click on your Gamertag on the Xbox Live blade. Go to Edit Profile --> Motto or Bio to edit this. This helps especially if your gamertag differs from your TR username.

See you on Xbox Live! :)

Here are some Good Xbox 360 resources!
Major Nelson - Larry Hryb, Dir. of Live for MS - Great blog, tons of info on the latest news and stuff coming out on the marketplace

Gamerscore Blog - Also written by MS emplyees, but this is the marketing team. Still there are good posts and good info to be found like info on Arcade releases, screenshot, suggestion threads, etc.

http://www.xbox360fanboy.com - A sub-site of Joystiq with a lot of good news

TeamXbox (already suggested) - The forums are pretty fanboyish, but one step above the xbox.com forums. (barely)

360 Voice - Your Xbox 360 can Blog on it's own based on your gameplay pattern! Simply sign up and it blog itself. :) Here's mine --> http://www.360voice.com/tag/PerfectCr

http://www.achieve360points.com- Good site for info on acheivements, guide, etc. A better one is....

http://www.xbox360achievements.org - Great site with good forums to help you get those elusive acheivements. They have guides and game achievement info.

Man, I didn't know that a site like that existed...I've resisted XBL because of the kiddies, but both playing with guys from TR and playing with actual adults could make it worthwhile...
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do. But what I hate, I do.

SW: Battlefront is a great XBL game. The HOTH map is amazing especially when you are in the AT-AT.

Who else?! :)

I will update this once I am online and I will be getting more games.

KOTOR is not an online game, although it is XBL compatible because it has some content downloads. But it's not a traditional "Xbox Live" Multiplayer game.

Current XBL Games = ESPN Football/Basketball, SW: Battlefront, Mechwarrior, Crimson Skies, Rainbow 6, PGR2

I only play Star Wars and football right now as far as online goes. But I'm down to fire up other games if I know somebody.

First it's an arcade style flying game. M It really puts alot of emphasis on dogfighting. The single player is worth playing (A bit short however) but Multiplayer is where it shines. I had alot of fun with it, you can pick it up for $20 or less now days. It's definately worth the cash. Should be in everyones Xbox library.

Well I have halo 2. I can say the multiplayer is awesome. I just love it. There are a few flaws with live and the gametypes they use etc... but overall it is great and maybe some of the flaws can be worked out.

I have gotten through to level 9 of SP but have set it aside for the MP. The campaign sucks at first but then starts to heat up later on(no specifics, I wouldnt want to spoil it for someone who hasnt played it)

Regaurdless of all that, I now play alot. I would like to play with some TR folks just for fun sometimes. Also, the clan I am in on Halo2 kind of needs one more person(well more than that, but at least 1). We have 7 now and are 20-3(tie[round based games end far too soon])-1 so let me know

My gamertag is THEB0LT 0=zero
I hope to see you halo players around on there

OK...I'm up and running as DeadBugs. It takes forever to type all of that info in. Every live game I have, I have not played yet. So I will practice off-line the next couple of days so I can sorta keep up. Which is the easiest to pick-up and play?

Edit: Crimson Skies looks pretty easy I will try that for awhile.

If your a PC gamer Unreal Championship is pretty easy to pickup. SW: Battlefront is easy, Crimson Skies is too. I like Top Spin, but that has a pretty big learning curve but is very fun.

Everyone is playing Halo 2 right now but I do not have it. Yet :D
