Big Update - 3/22/08!
TL:DR: Send a Friend Request to the gamertag TR Gamers (space included) to be added to the list of Tech Report Xbox Live members!
Detailed Update:
Included in the Fall 2007 Update to the Xbox 360 Dashboard is the the ability to view the friends list of other gamers. The "Friends of Friends" feature allows for some very cool implementations. The one I am rolling out today will help keep TR Xbox Live members closer together.
Here's how it works: A free silver gamertag is setup and everyone in the group (in our case, TR members) sends a friend request to that free silver GT. As the list of friends grows on that generic Silver GT, you begin to have a group of people that are connected to one gamertag. Then, use the friends of friends feature to view the friends list of that free silver GT.
So, I have created a Gamertag called TR Gamers. (note there is indeed a space in the name). I am the owner of this gamertag. I will manage it for us. Simply send a Friend Request through the Dashboard or through xbox.com to TR Gamers, and I will accept your invite.
How to view the list of TR Gamers
Once TR Gamers has been added as a Friend, simply open your friends list in the Xbox 360 Dashboard. Click on the TR Gamers Gamertag to expand the profile. Go to the "Personal Profile" tab. Then click "View Friends". Now the list of all TR Xbox Live members who have TR Gamers as their friend will appear. You can invite people right from here to games, send messages, ect. Pretty cool huh? Please note: You will not see your own name on the list of TR Gamers, even if you are a friend of the gamertag. Don't get nervous, you will be there!
I have gone through the entire list in the OP and the past few pages and sent invites to all of you. Please accept this friend request. If I missed you, please send a friend request to TR Gamers and I will accept your invite! This new method will replace the list currently being maintained in the OP.
Request: Please put" TR: or "TechReport" in your Xbox Live profile somewhere. Preferably putting it in the motto or your bio will work. Simply click on your Gamertag on the Xbox Live blade. Go to Edit Profile --> Motto or Bio to edit this. This helps especially if your gamertag differs from your TR username.
See you on Xbox Live!
